Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant is located on the Da River, the second largest in the country, with an installed capacity of 1,920 MW. Before the merger of localities, the hydropower plant belonged to Hoa Binh province, now the new Phu Tho province.
Construction of the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant began in 1979 and was completed in 1994. It is one of the largest hydropower projects in Southeast Asia and plays an important role in supplying electricity to northern Vietnam.
