Accordingly, Decision No. 2203/QD-BVHTTDL of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism has listed the Folk Knowledge of Bun Bo Hue in the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage, under the category of Folk Knowledge.

This is a worthy recognition of the historical, cultural, artistic and economic value of the typical dish imbued with the identity of the ancient capital.

Bun bo Hue is not only a famous dish both nationally and internationally, but also the crystallization of hundreds of years of folk knowledge passed down through many generations; deeply reflecting the soul, lifestyle and culinary culture of Hue people.

In particular, this dish is closely associated with religious life, community activities and traditional craft villages such as Van Cu vermicelli village, O Sa vermicelli and cake village...

In 2014, Bun Bo Hue was introduced by famous culinary expert Anthony Boudain on American television channel CNN as “the best soup I have ever tasted”. In 2016, Bun Bo Hue was included in the list of Top 100 valuable Asian dishes by the Asian Record Organization.

In 2023, the international culinary website Taste Atlas ranked Hue 28th out of 100 cities with the best food in the world; in which, Bun Bo Hue is considered "a must-try Hue delicacy when coming here".

Many culinary experts say that Bun Bo Hue is a must-try dish when visiting Hue.

Through many historical ups and downs, the folk knowledge of preparing Hue beef noodle soup has been preserved and promoted by the community, especially with the contribution of culinary artisans such as: artisans Mai Thi Tra, Hoang Thi Nhu Huy, Ton Nu Thi Ha, Phan Ton Gia Hien...

According to Mr. Phan Thanh Hai, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hue City, the heritage registration not only affirms the value of Hue culinary culture but also creates a legal foundation and important motivation for the locality to continue to promote the conservation, promotion and development of heritage values in the cultural industry development strategy, contributing to the development of tourism, local economy and culture.

“This is also a meaningful stepping stone in the journey to make Hue a UNESCO Creative City in the culinary field,” Mr. Phan Thanh Hai emphasized.

In the coming time, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will coordinate with departments, branches, artisans and the community to continue implementing activities to teach, honor and promote heritage, contributing to spreading the value of the heritage of folk knowledge about Bun Bo Hue to the public at home and abroad, so that this dish is not only the pride of Hue people but also a symbol of Vietnamese culture in the international arena.

On this occasion, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism also issued Decision No. 2293/QD-BVHTTDL to register the Bhuoih Haro Tơme Festival - New Rice Celebration Festival of the Co Tu ethnic group in Nam Dong, Long Quang and Khe Tre communes (Hue city) as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage, belonging to the category of Traditional Festivals, Social Customs and Beliefs.

The New Rice Festival is a typical agricultural ritual, reflecting the close relationship between humans, nature, and gods in the cultural life of the Co Tu ethnic group.

The festival usually takes place after each harvest season, with the meaning of thanking the gods, especially the rice god Giang Haro, for giving the village a bountiful harvest, a peaceful and prosperous life.

Preserved and passed down through many generations, the festival is a characteristic of the traditional rice cultivation cycle of the Co Tu people, and is also an important occasion for the community to gather, have fun and strengthen solidarity.

The inclusion of the New Rice Festival in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List will contribute to spreading the unique cultural heritage of the Co Tu ethnic minority community in Nam Dong district (old) - a land rich in tradition, playing an important role in the mountainous cultural identity of Hue.
