At the Laboratory Department, the delegation visited the blood receiving, testing and treatment process; listened to the sharing of the medical team and doctors about the work of receiving blood, coordinating safe blood for treatment; presented 10 gifts (each worth 500 thousand VND) to 10 children with congenital hemolytic disease (Thalassemia) in difficult circumstances who are being treated at the Pediatrics Department.
Currently, at the Department of Pediatrics, the Provincial General Hospital is monitoring and treating more than 120 children with congenital hemolytic anemia, many of whom require monthly blood transfusions, along with long-term iron chelation therapy. This is a heavy burden not only for the children but also for their families, especially poor and near-poor households in remote areas.
This is an annual activity of the Program "Red Journey - Red Drops in the Countryside", aiming to spread love, arouse community responsibility in sharing with disadvantaged children, helping patients fight chronic diseases for life.
