Driver who ran red lights twice was unexpectedly praised by traffic police

After verifying the purpose of driver Nguyen Tien Thanh (residing in Ward 10, Da Lat City) running the red light twice, the Traffic Police Department of Lam Dong Province not only did not issue a decision to impose an administrative penalty but also commended the driver's act of kindness.

On June 16, the Traffic Police Department of Lam Dong Province Police said that on the afternoon of June 9, from the traffic surveillance camera system, the authorities discovered that car with license plate 49A-738... ran a red light at the Nguyen Van Cu intersection in Da Lat City. Working with the Traffic Police Department of Lam Dong Province Police, Mr. Nguyen Tien Thanh explained that the reason for running the red light was to take a traffic accident victim to Lam Dong General Hospital for emergency treatment.

Previously, while traveling on Ta Nung Pass, Da Lat City, Mr. Thanh discovered a young man who had a motorbike accident and was seriously injured. This man put the victim in his car and rushed him to the hospital for emergency treatment. Due to the urgent need to save people, when passing through two intersections in Da Lat City, Mr. Thanh ran red lights twice to be in time for the golden hour to rescue the victim.

The Traffic Police Department of Lam Dong Province Police has verified the incident and determined that the reason Mr. Nguyen Tien Thanh drove his car through a red light was to transport a patient to the emergency room. Mr. Thanh also provided confirmation of the incident from a representative of Lam Dong General Hospital.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Tiep, Head of the Traffic Police Department of Lam Dong Province Police, said that the unit decided not to issue an administrative fine against Mr. Nguyen Tien Thanh, and at the same time commended the driver's humanitarian spirit and civic responsibility in an emergency situation to save the victim.
