Potential for OCOP product development

Currently, Ca Mau province has 352 OCOP products from 173 entities, of which 273 products meet 3-star standards, 77 products meet 4-star standards and 2 salt products (grain salt and refined salt) are recognized as meeting 5-star national OCOP standards.

Ca Mau has strengths in aquaculture, especially shrimp. Many products processed from shrimp are popular in the market. Dried shrimp , split shrimp, pressed shrimp, shrimp floss, fresh frozen whole shrimp, steamed frozen whole shrimp... are reputable in the domestic and foreign markets. In addition, famous OCOP products processed from shrimp are brought to supermarket systems.

To upgrade OCOP products, it is necessary to focus on improving product quality, ensuring food safety and building product brands. The subjects gradually apply new technology, modern production processes and strict quality management to help Ca Mau shrimp products reach 5-star OCOP standards...

Aiming to build 5-star OCOP products

To upgrade OCOP products, Ca Mau needs to focus on building modern production processes, strict quality management, applying new technology, ensuring food safety and building brands. At the same time, promote trade, support entities, cooperatives and businesses in product registration and management. Upgrading to 5-star OCOP standards will bring practical benefits to both producers and consumers.

Typically, the Vietnamese Agricultural Products Establishment of Ms. Ta Tuyet Thu, Phong Hiep Commune, is one of the OCOP entities with 15 products certified with 3-star and 4-star OCOP. Famous products such as dried freshwater shrimp, one-sun-dried whiteleg shrimp, shrimp floss, shrimp crackers, shrimp salt, etc. of Vietnamese Agricultural Products have affirmed their quality over many years. 4-star OCOP products are loved by many people and have become indispensable gifts during holidays and Tet.

In building the OCOP shrimp product brand, the subjects need to focus on quality to create prestige, increase the value of agricultural products, increase income for farmers and expand export markets. Besides shrimp, crab is also a key product of Ca Mau. With large output, if the processing quality is improved, shrimp and crab products will meet higher standards, contributing to raising the OCOP star and improving farmers' lives.


The 5-star OCOP certification for Ca Mau shrimp and crab to become national OCOP products will be an important stepping stone to help these two key products reach out to the world , becoming the province's main export items.
