Samsung Electronics Vietnam Thai Nguyen Factory - where visitors can witness modern production processes and global corporate culture
When it comes to industrial tourism , it is easy to imagine that it is a journey that takes tourists into the production space of factories and enterprises to explore the story of technology and the movement of the times. Production and labor become cultural values, connecting the past, present and future. Many countries have developed this type.
In Toyota City (Aichi Prefecture, Japan), visitors can witness the modern car assembly process, from body stamping, painting, assembly to quality control. Japan also has the Toyota Museum of Industry and Technology, which recreates the journey from weaving to automobiles, combining interactive experiences. These activities not only promote the Toyota brand, but also affirm the strength of Japanese industry based on discipline, creativity and quality.
Gumi Industrial Complex (Gyeongsangbuk-do Province) is the “cradle” of Korean electronics, where corporations such as Samsung, LG, SK Hynix have factories. In addition to its manufacturing role, Gumi is also exploited as an industrial tourism destination, with tours, seminars, and educational programs for international students, researchers, and businessmen. This is both a production center and a “living gallery” for Korean industrial capacity, connecting technology with education and tourism.
The pioneer in building industrial tourism model products in Vietnam is Dong Nai province. Since 2016, Ajinomoto Vietnam Company has successfully exploited this model, attracting tens of thousands of visitors each year.
Here, visitors can experience modern automatic production lines that meet strict requirements on food hygiene and safety as well as the packaging and finishing process of products before they are released to the market.
Thai Nguyen is the cradle of heavy industry in the North, associated with the Thai Nguyen Iron and Steel Factory - the "project of the century" that started construction in 1959. The remains of the blast furnace, the iron and steel smelting area and the memories of the workers "cutting mountains and leveling hills" can be restored into an industrial memory space, both educating about tradition and creating a tourist highlight.
The province also has high-tech zones, notably Yen Binh Industrial Park, near Noi Bai Airport, convenient for visitors. Here, Samsung Electronics Vietnam Thai Nguyen (SEVT) Factory, one of Samsung's largest manufacturing facilities in the world, produces hundreds of millions of smartphones each year - where visitors can witness modern production processes and global corporate culture.
If properly exploited, industrial tourism in Thai Nguyen can both preserve industrial memories, educate the younger generation about labor traditions, and open up new directions for economic and cultural development, connecting regional identity with the modernization and integration process.
