Bustling and dynamic

Mr. Nguyen Van Quan's family, Hamlet 3, Song Doc Commune , has been well-off for generations thanks to the sea profession. Following his father's footsteps, initially with small boats to exploit coastal areas, then gradually switching to large boats to go offshore. Thanks to abundant marine resources, Mr. Quan's family's fleet has continuously developed, now up to 10 boats, both for exploitation and purchasing, each worth several billion VND.

A corner of Song Doc coastal city.

Like Mr. Quan's family, thanks to taking advantage of the fishing industry, over the past decades, many families have become billionaires in the coastal area of Song Doc from nothing. Over time, small villages with dozens of houses made of local trees and leaves have gradually been replaced by many factories, enterprises, companies, production and business establishments, high-rise buildings, garden villas... close together along the two banks of Ong Doc River, creating a bustling and vibrant coastal city today.

In his memories, Mr. Quan still remembers: “In the past, although they were called houses, they were actually just huts for fishermen to stay after fishing trips. Life was hard and full of deprivation.”

From the first bricks, after more than 40 years of construction and development since its establishment (counting from Song Doc town before the merger - PV), today Song Doc is one of the dynamic urban areas of the province, the gateway to the national waterway transport corridor connecting directly to the West Sea. Before being a dynamic locality developing the economy in peacetime, Song Doc was rich in revolutionary traditions with the National Historical Site of the Gathering Place to the North in late 1954, early 1955 on the South bank of Song Doc - a place marking an important historical milestone of the revolution of the army and people of Ca Mau in the resistance war against the US to save the country.

Like Song Doc, Ganh Hao, Rach Goc or Cai Doi Vam , Khanh Hoi area was initially just a small coastal village with a few fishermen living and working. However, with its favorable geographical location and abundant resources, this place has increasingly attracted residents, developed over the years and become a dynamic coastal city as it is today.

Marine exploitation is a key economic sector contributing to the bustling development of Cai Doi Vam urban area.

Mr. To Tan Nghiep, Vice Chairman of Cai Doi Vam Commune People's Committee, shared: "To continue to create a breakthrough in the key economic sector of aquaculture and fisheries, the commune has determined that in the coming time, it will focus on mobilizing resources to invest in infrastructure to create connections between communes and regions, especially coastal communes such as Song Doc..., to not only rapidly develop the economic sector, but also open up new directions for tourism and service development, especially eco-tourism and sea tourism - a potential that Cai Doi Vam still has abundant and full of promise".

Creating breakthroughs from traffic infrastructure advantages

In order to develop coastal cities into economic, industrial, service and tourism centers, in recent times, the province has mobilized resources to invest in many important works and projects such as: Ong Doc River Bridge connecting the two banks of Ong Doc River, Ganh Hao Bridge connecting trade at Ganh Hao estuary, Cai Doi Vam Bridge; East-West axis road, the only road in the country connecting the two banks of the East and West seas.

In particular, the East-West axis connects the two most bustling coastal cities of the province, Song Doc and Ganh Hao. From here, not only will the spearhead of the marine economy have the conditions to develop more strongly, but it will also open up many opportunities for breakthrough tourism, services... The two most important marine economic zones of the province not only have advantages in exploitation, processing and logistics services, but also possess natural landscapes with both forests and sea, associated with cultural and historical relics and unique folk festivals and traditional craft villages.

The traffic route on the West Sea Dike has created a connection between many urban areas in the West Sea, contributing to promoting socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security.

On August 19, Ca Mau simultaneously started construction of many key projects in the area, including the Ca Mau - Dat Mui expressway. It will not be long before the East - West axis and many other traffic routes in the area are connected to this expressway, creating a complete traffic network. At that time, not only will goods, especially products from the Ca Mau sea, be able to reach many regions in the country and abroad quickly, but it will also open up great opportunities and motivation for the province to attract and call for investment, promoting local socio-economic development.

Not only having economic advantages, Ca Mau province - the southernmost land of the country also has a very important position in the strategy of ensuring national defense and security. The project of the traffic route to Hon Khoai island and Hon Khoai dual-use general port, a national key project that has just been started, has affirmed this.

The Ca Mau - Dat Mui expressway projects, the traffic route to Hon Khoai island and the Hon Khoai dual-use port, when completed, will create a seamless connection of the North-South expressway in the East to Dat Mui, connecting the mainland and Hon Khoai island to implement the orientation of marine economic development, opening up opportunities for comprehensive, fast and sustainable breakthroughs for Ca Mau, especially urban areas in coastal economic zones./.
