On the occasion of the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2025), on July 12 and 13, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung and his delegation made a journey to the source in Quang Tri province.

At the beginning of the working trip, the Minister and the delegation visited, offered incense and flowers at the Vietnamese Heroic Mothers Memorial in Hai Lang Commune - a special memorial, the first in the country to be built specifically to honor Vietnamese Heroic Mothers. This is a work of great humanity, built with socialized capital mobilized by the former Hai Thuong Commune.
In a solemn atmosphere, Minister Nguyen Van Hung and leaders of Hai Lang commune respectfully commemorated the great contributions of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers - mothers who sent their husbands and children off to war and many of whom never returned.

After the ceremony, Minister Nguyen Van Hung presented 196 gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and their relatives in Hai Lang commune.
It is known that Hai Lang commune is a new administrative unit formed from the merger of three communes: Hai Thuong, Hai Phu and Hai Lam. These are all communes that have been awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces for their special contributions in the resistance war against the US to save the country. Notably, Hai Thuong commune is the first locality of the old Hai Lang district to be awarded this noble title since 1968.
Continuing the journey of gratitude, the delegation visited Vinh Hoang commune, which was recently established from the merger of four communes: Trung Nam, Vinh Hoa, Vinh Thai and Vinh Tu. All four communes are localities with rich revolutionary traditions and have been awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces.

Here, Minister Nguyen Van Hung expressed his gratitude and respect for the sacrifices of the previous generation; and presented 100 gifts to people with revolutionary contributions.
During the visit, Minister Nguyen Van Hung always paid close attention to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, wounded and sick soldiers and relatives of martyrs.
Minister Nguyen Van Hung emphasized that showing gratitude to those who have contributed is the morality and responsibility of the entire political system and society; at the same time, he hoped that families would continue to promote revolutionary traditions, educate their children to live with ideals, and actively contribute to building an increasingly civilized and prosperous homeland.
During the working trip, the Minister and the delegation visited and offered flowers and incense at the special national relic of Quang Tri Ancient Citadel - which was once the fiercest battlefield during the 81-day and night campaign in the fiery summer of 1972.
Visiting Truong Son National Martyrs Cemetery and Road 9 Martyrs Cemetery - the resting place of more than 20,000 martyrs. The delegation respectfully lit incense on each grave to express the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source" and remind today's generation of the value of peace , of the losses in exchange for independence and freedom.
