The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just decided to include three unique intangible cultural heritages of Cao Bang province in the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritages. These are typical cultural values, closely associated with the religious and spiritual life and unique identities of ethnic communities in the area.
The three heritages include: Nom script of the Tay people; beeswax printing technique of the Tien Dao people (mainly distributed in Tam Kim and Thanh Cong communes); and the art of painting worship paintings of the Red Dao people in Thanh Long commune.
Nom Tay script is an ancient form of writing, born from the need to record the ethnic language, based on borrowing and modifying Chinese characters. The script was widely used in folk poetry, stories, medical books, prayers, etc., demonstrating the level of awareness and creativity of the Tay people - the majority ethnic group in Cao Bang . Recognizing this heritage is an important step in preserving the minority language that is gradually disappearing.

The Dao Tien people's beeswax printing technique is a type of folk knowledge and traditional handicraft. Dao women use beeswax to draw patterns on fabric and then dye it with indigo, creating unique dresses that are imbued with the spiritual elements and cultural identity of the ethnic group. Each pattern not only demonstrates their ingenuity but also carries a traditional message that has been preserved through many generations.
Meanwhile, the worship paintings of the Red Dao are an indispensable part of religious ceremonies. The paintings are hand-painted using natural materials such as charcoal, soil, tree roots, etc., expressing the worldview, philosophy of life, and beliefs about gods and ancestors. This is an art form that combines aesthetic elements, beliefs, and spiritual and culturaleducation .

The national recognition of three intangible cultural heritages of Cao Bang not only affirms the unique value of the Tay, Dao Tien and Dao Do ethnic groups, but also motivates localities to continue to preserve, restore and promote traditional cultural quintessence in modern life.
This is also a testament to the richness and diversity of the cultures of the ethnic groups in the Northeast region, contributing to enriching the cultural identity of Vietnam.
