On July 13, flight number VU302, departing from Phu Quoc airport (An Giang) to Ho Chi Minh City at 7:10 p.m. by Vietravel Airlines, had to return to Phu Quoc airport to ensure safety because the plane had a collision with a bird.

For two consecutive days (July 13 and 14), Vietravel Airlines had to cancel 7 flights because the plane had a collision with a bird.

Immediately after receiving the incident notice, Vietravel Airlines' technical department promptly coordinated with specialized technical partners to conduct a comprehensive inspection, assess the extent of the damage, and implement necessary remedial measures. This affected the airline's operating schedule for two consecutive days.

On July 13, in addition to the above flight, two other flights, VU680 (Tan Son Nhat - Da Nang ) and VU679 (Da Nang - Tan Son Nhat) were also canceled.

On July 14, four flights including VU303 (Tan Son Nhat – Phu Quoc), VU302 (Phu Quoc – Tan Son Nhat), VU682 (Tan Son Nhat – Da Nang) and VU681 (Da Nang – Tan Son Nhat) continued to be unable to operate. Several other flights were also affected in a chain reaction.

A representative of Vietravel Airlines said that the airline is making efforts to return the aircraft to operation as soon as possible, however, ensuring the safety of flights is the top priority. In addition, the airline has also implemented support plans for affected passengers such as 100% refund of tickets to the original payment channel, free ticket exchange to another date, support for purchasing tickets from other airlines and compensation according to regulations, non-refundable advance compensation... The airline also informed passengers at airports and through many media channels, telephone, SMS, email and switchboard.

Previously, at the end of June 2025, at Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi), Vietravel Airlines held a ceremony to receive the first Airbus A321 aircraft owned by the airline after nearly 5 years of operation. This move was assessed by many experts as a new step in the airline's restructuring and expansion plan after T&T Group became a strategic shareholder.

Previously, at the 2025 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, Vietravel Airlines approved a plan to increase its charter capital to VND2,600 billion, expected to be completed in the first half of 2026. The goal is to improve financial capacity to expand the fleet, invest in technical infrastructure, technology and human resource training, while ensuring healthy financial indicators and enhancing reputation with partners and credit institutions.

It is known that in the near future, Vietravel Airlines will promote passenger transport and expand into air cargo to meet the increasing demand of supply chains and logistics in the region.
