After a flight of more than 3 hours from Tan Son Nhat Airport (Ho Chi Minh City), the Vietnam U23 team arrived at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Jakarta) on the afternoon of July 14 to prepare for the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship.

Quickly getting their luggage and completing immigration procedures, Coach Kim Sang Sik and his team returned to the hotel to eat and rest before going to the training ground scheduled for 6 p.m. the same day to regain their physical condition and get used to the weather in Indonesia.

According to the plan, U23 Vietnam will have 4 days of training to perfect tactics and get used to the field conditions before entering the opening match of Group B against U23 Laos on July 19.

With a strong and well-prepared squad, coach Kim Sang Sik and his team are very confident in their journey to conquer the championship this year.

This is also the first tournament that coach Kim Sang Sik has directly led the Vietnam U23 team since coming to Vietnam. Therefore, the Korean coach is more eager to conquer the title than ever.

In this tournament, the Vietnam U23 team under the leadership of coaches Dinh The Nam and Hoang Anh Tuan won consecutively in the last two tournaments in 2022 and 2023.

The 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship will take place from July 15 to 29 in Indonesia with the participation of 10 teams, divided into 3 groups. The teams will compete in a round-robin to calculate points, selecting the 3 group winners and 1 second-place team with the best results to enter the semi-finals.

The U23 Vietnam team in Group B will meet Laos (July 19) and Cambodia (July 22) to compete for a ticket to the semi-finals.
