Vietnam Volleyball hunts for the 2nd round of SEA V.League trophy

Having missed the opportunity to win the first round of the 2025 Southeast Asian Volleyball Championship (SEA V.League) in the Philippines, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team is determined to focus on the second round taking place from July 16 to 20 in Indonesia.

The regret of Vietnamese volleyball

Yesterday, July 13, the first round of the SEA V.League ended with the championship title belonging to the Thai men's volleyball team after defeating the Cambodian team in the final match. Vietnamese volleyball fans felt sorry for coach Tran Dinh Tien and his team because they had an impressive performance in the tournament when they defeated Thailand, but lost 0-3 to the host Philippines in the opening match and narrowly lost 2-3 to Indonesia in the final match, so they missed the chance to win the championship. However, finishing third was a remarkable effort by Nguyen Ngoc Thuan and his teammates, because last season, the Vietnamese team ranked last among the four participating teams. Not to mention that in the first round of the SEA V.League this year, the Vietnamese team faced an unfavorable schedule when they had to play 4 consecutive matches, causing the players' physical strength to be exhausted. Therefore, in the final match with Indonesia, coach Tran Dinh Tien had to use the hitters who were often on the bench. In order to not be affected much by the competition schedule, the Vietnamese team needs to have careful preparation from physical strength to building a deep force, instead of relying entirely on the pillars.

Coach Tran Dinh Tien hopes that the Vietnamese men's volleyball team will perform better when they have a favorable schedule in the upcoming round 2 of the SEA V.League. In round 2, the Vietnamese team will play their opening match against Cambodia on July 16, then face Indonesia on July 17 and Thailand on July 18. Ngoc Thuan and his teammates will have a day off on July 19 before playing their final match against the Philippines on July 20. It is expected that the teams will not have much change in terms of force compared to round 1, so the competition for high rankings will mainly take place between the 3 teams of Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam. The Vietnamese team still relies on the pillars of Nguyen Ngoc Thuan, Dinh Van Duy, Truong The Khai, Quan Trong Nghia, Tran Duy Tuyen, Nguyen Van Quoc Duy. In addition, hitters such as Nguyen Thanh Hai, Pham Quoc Du, Pham Van Hiep, Hoang Xuan Truong are also ready to play if given the opportunity.

At the Shanghai Future Stars International Friendly Volleyball Tournament held yesterday, July 13, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team left an impression with a 3-0 victory over the French U.21 team. The Vietnamese women's team brought a reserve team to the tournament, without stars like Thanh Thuy and Bich Tuyen. However, the remaining players like Bich Thuy, Kieu Trinh, Kim Thoa, and Nguyen Thi Uyen gradually showed their maturity. Today, the Vietnamese women's team faced the Chinese U.21 team.
