Tighten management

During this peak period, the Market Management Force discovered and handled many serious violations. In Yen Son District, the business household Nhu Cong Quan was discovered to be trading 60 sets of fake Adidas brand clothing worth 18 million VND and illegally copying 129 works. Market Management Team No. 5 proposed to impose a fine of 41 million VND and destroy all the violating goods.

In Ham Yen district, business household Nguyen Xuan An was discovered selling 83 ready-made clothing products counterfeiting famous brands such as Adidas, Chanel, Nike, Gucci with a total value of more than 31 million VND. Market Management Team No. 5 proposed a fine of 27.5 million VND and forced the destruction of all goods.

Notably, in Tuyen Quang City, Hoang Son Tung business household traded 306 clothing and footwear products that were counterfeiting famous brands such as Adidas, Dior, Nike, Hermes, with a total value of nearly 97.2 million VND. The functional unit advised the Provincial People's Committee to impose a fine of 70 million VND and destroy all infringing goods.

These incidents are evidence of the determination of the authorities, and at the same time a wake-up call for businesses to change their trading methods and comply with legal regulations. Mr. Nguyen Van Manh, a vendor selling bedding, pillows, and mattresses at Chiem Hoa market, shared: “Previously, many people still bought goods through acquaintances, with incomplete documents, so when they heard about the inspection, they were worried. Through this period, I understand that I must sell goods with invoices, documents, and clear origins, and not assist in counterfeiting.”

Ms. Le Thi Anh, who sells clothes at Tam Co market, also said: “This inspection helps us to adjust our business practices and not sell fake or counterfeit goods. I hope the authorities will continue to provide specific instructions so that traders can comply with the regulations.”

Although changing trading habits is not easy, most traders have a better understanding of the responsibility to be transparent about the origin and source of goods. In addition to support from authorities, each business household also needs to proactively seek reputable sources of goods, ensuring quality to better serve consumers. Strict inspection and handling of violations helps protect consumer rights and helps traditional markets maintain their important role, creating a stable, transparent and sustainable business environment.

Synchronous testing, market stability

In response to concerns from many small traders about the peak inspection period at traditional markets, the authorities affirmed that the main goal is to rectify smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and intellectual property violations. The authorities do not target small businesses, and certainly do not “sweep small traders” as some rumors have suggested.

Mr. Dao Luong Nhan, Deputy Director of the Market Management Department of Tuyen Quang province, affirmed that we have recorded a number of businesses temporarily closing due to incomplete understanding of information on social networks. In fact, the inspection activities were carried out with a focus and key points, without hindering normal business, especially not targeting small traders in traditional markets. The goal is to strictly handle violations, protect consumer rights, stabilize the market and create a healthy business environment in accordance with the law.

According to the report of the provincial Market Management Department, the results of inspection and handling of violations from May 16 to June 5, the total number of inspections and handling cases was 37. Of which, 36 were violations, mainly violations related to food safety, goods of unknown origin and counterfeit goods. The amount of administrative fines was more than 300 million VND. The value of goods forced to be destroyed was 236.97 million VND.

Mr. Loc Kim Lien, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said: “This peak inspection is not only carried out in Tuyen Quang but is being deployed synchronously across the country, aiming to prevent smuggling, counterfeit goods, and poor quality goods, protect consumer rights and maintain a healthy business environment. The inspection is carried out with a focus and key points, without affecting businesses that comply with regulations. The Department of Industry and Trade will continue to coordinate with market management forces, market management boards and local authorities to promote propaganda, guidance, and help traders understand the regulations, not to trade in counterfeit goods, fake goods, and poor quality goods.

This peak period is also an important opportunity to raise awareness among traders about their responsibility to ensure the origin of goods, contributing to creating a foundation for stable commercial activities and long-term sustainable development. The Department recommends that traders stay calm, do not listen to unverified rumors, and avoid closing stores en masse, which could affect income. Close coordination between the government and traders will help traditional markets play an important role in meeting people's consumption needs.
