US: Trump administration concludes Harvard University violated federal law

According to WSJ, in a letter to Harvard University President Alan Garber, US government lawyers said the school showed "deliberate indifference" despite knowing that students felt unsafe.

The administration warned that if Harvard did not take immediate corrective action, it would lose all federal funding, which would further damage Harvard's relationship with the federal government.

In recent months, Harvard University has been embroiled in a conflict with the administration of US President Donald Trump, as Washington accused the university of tolerating “anti-Semitism,” threatening or cutting research funding to the prestigious university.

On May 22, the US Department of Homeland Security revoked Harvard's accreditation in the Student and Exchange Visitor Program, forcing about 7,000 foreign students at Harvard to transfer schools or risk remaining in the US illegally.

In early June, Mr. Trump continued to block foreign students from entering the United States to study at Harvard, citing another legal reason.

A federal judge blocked the US government's efforts and ruled that Harvard would retain its ability to accept foreign students while the case was resolved./.
