Attending the ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dieu, Vice Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee; former leaders of Tien Giang province; representatives of departments, agencies and a large number of people and descendants of the Pham Dang family.
Speaking at the ceremony, Son Qui Gian Ward Party Secretary Ba Huynh emphasized: “The death anniversary of Duke Pham Dang Hung is not only an occasion to pay tribute to the merits of our ancestors, but also an occasion toeducate the younger generation about patriotism and filial piety. This is a typical cultural event, demonstrating the Vietnamese people's morality of "When drinking water, remember its source".

According to historical records, Mr. Pham Dang Hung was born in 1764 in Go Rua (Go Cong). He passed the Tam Truong examination in 1784 and held the position of Minister of Rites, then General of the National History Institute under the Minh Mang Dynasty. A man of both literary and martial arts, famous for his integrity and virtue, he was a meritorious mandarin who assisted King Gia Long since the founding of the country, making many contributions to policy making and stabilizing the country after the war with the Tay Son army of the Nguyen Dynasty.
He died in Hue in 1825, on the 14th day of the 6th lunar month, and was posthumously awarded the title “Vinh Loc Dai Phu Tru Quoc Hiep - Bien Dai Hoc Si Thuy Trung Nha” by King Minh Mang and was buried in Son Qui. In 1849, King Tu Duc, his grandson, posthumously awarded the title “Duc Quoc Cong”.

According to the Royal Tomb Management Board, the death anniversary of Duc Quoc Cong is held annually according to traditional rituals, with socialized funding, at the Royal Tomb. This is also the resting place of him and the Pham Dang family.
This relic was recognized as a national historical and cultural relic since 1993 and has become a red address for traditional education for union members and youth; a political activity site for many union organizations inside and outside the province.
Organizing the death anniversary in the form of socialization is a way to promote community spirit, at the same time preserve and spread precious cultural and historical values to future generations. This is also an opportunity for the people of Go Cong and Dong Thap to come together to remember the famous mandarin who left a great mark in the history of the Vietnamese nation.
