Hanoi's economy in the first 6 months of the year: Growth exceeds scenario

On the morning of July 8, the Hanoi People's Committee reported on the socio-economic results for the first 6 months of 2025. GRDP growth reached 7.63%, exceeding the scenario thanks to administrative reform, digital transformation and infrastructure investment. Hanoi is determined to achieve the growth target of 8% for the whole year.

At the 25th session of the Hanoi People's Council, Mr. Truong Viet Dung, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, presented a report on the socio -economic situation. The report showed that the capital's economy has achieved remarkable results, with the gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in the first 6 months of 2025 growing by 7.63%, higher than the national average growth rate (estimated at 7.52%) and exceeding the set scenario.

According to Mr. Truong Viet Dung, the main driving force for this growth comes from drastic management and leadership solutions. Notably, the "revolution of streamlining the apparatus" has seen 126 new communes and wards operating stably after 8 days of implementation, without any interruptions. Along with that, the city has promoted comprehensive digital transformation, with 100% of communes and wards processing electronic documents with digital signatures.

The economic results are reflected in impressive figures. The total state budget revenue in the area reached 392.2 trillion VND. The total development investment capital reached 223.5 trillion VND, accounting for 14% of the total capital of the country. Notably, the city attracted more than 3.67 billion USD of FDI capital, an increase of 216% and exceeding the annual plan target. The business environment has also improved with 15,681 newly registered enterprises and 5,941 enterprises resuming operations.

The urban infrastructure sector has recorded many remarkable progresses through the "green lane" mechanism. Specifically, Tu Lien Bridge started construction on May 19, 2025. Tran Hung Dao, Ngoc Hoi, Van Phuc, and Thuong Cat Bridges are expected to start construction on September 2, 2025. Regarding the environment, Yen Xa wastewater treatment system with a capacity of 270,000 m³/day and night has been put into trial operation.

To achieve the target of 8% GRDP growth for the whole year, Mr. Truong Viet Dung said that the City People's Committee will focus on key tasks. Solutions include stimulating domestic consumption, promoting industrial production, and accelerating the disbursement of public investment capital. The city will also continue to accelerate key projects such as Ring Road 4, while effectively operating the two-tier government model.

"The satisfaction of people and businesses is a measure of the quality and efficiency of the two-level government," Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Truong Viet Dung emphasized.
