The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Gia Lai province has requested that authorities strengthen the protection of Bryde's whales (Balaenoptera edeni), as they frequently appear in many coastal waters of the province. The fact that this whale species has continuously appeared for over a month shows that the environment and marine ecosystem of Gia Lai is gradually recovering, with abundant food sources suitable for their feeding habits.
To protect whales, the Department of Agriculture and Environment recommends that relevant agencies instruct organizations and individuals organizing whale watching tours to keep a minimum distance of 100 meters and not approach the front or rear of the whales. Boat speeds must be limited, and it is best to turn off the engine when entering areas with whales. In addition, no more than 3 boats are allowed to operate at the same time in areas with whales.
