Diversifying poverty reduction models in Lang Son

TPO - The movement to build new rural areas and reduce poverty sustainably is being implemented synchronously by localities in Lang Son province so that ethnic minority people here can have a more prosperous and happier life.

Implementing the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the 2021-2025 period, Van Lang district ( Lang Son province) has diversified livelihoods, developed poverty reduction models and achieved many positive results, contributing to job creation and increasing income for people.

Accordingly, in 2024, this locality will be allocated 7 billion 746 million VND to implement 14 project models, typically: Medicinal Plant Planting Project in Tan Tac commune with 18 poor and near-poor households participating; Rosemary planting project in Hoi Hoan commune with dozens of households participating; Cattle breeding project in Thanh Long, Thanh Hoa, Thuy Hung, Hong Thai, Gia Mien, Tan Tac, Hoi Hoan communes with 92 poor and near-poor households participating...

Ethnic minorities in Lang Son promote production of locally available products

In Binh Gia, a mountainous locality of the province, from 2022 to now, 17 production models have been implemented in 12 communes, with the participation of 242 poor, near-poor, and newly escaped-poverty households, with a total support budget of over 8.3 billion VND. The family of Ms. Le Thi Thuong (Na Dai village, Tan Van commune) received support of 17 breeding pigs. After more than 1 year of care, the herd of pigs has been sold 2 litters, with a total income of nearly 60 million VND. With this money, her family continues to buy breeding pigs to restore the herd and invest in 2 more sows to proactively have breeding pigs.

In Trang Dinh district, from 2022 to present, 29 models have been implemented to support production development and livelihood diversification, with 267 poor, near-poor and newly escaped poverty households benefiting within 36 months.

To effectively implement the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction, the People's Committee of Lang Son province has set out specific tasks and solutions such as: Developing a poverty reduction plan, enhancing the responsibility of Party committees, authorities, cadres, civil servants and public employees in sustainable poverty reduction. Poverty reduction is identified as an important content in the socio -economic development programs and plans of all levels, sectors and localities.

Lang Son also promotes the dissemination of poverty reduction goals to all levels, sectors, population classes and the poor to create positive changes in awareness of poverty reduction work, arousing the will of the poor to proactively rise up. Enterprises, socio- political organizations and people are mobilized to contribute to poverty reduction work; receive and effectively use policies and support resources from the State and the community to rise up and escape poverty sustainably.

People in remote areas in Lang Son are encouraged to escape poverty together.

It can be seen that poverty reduction projects and models have supported the right subjects: poor households, near-poor households, households that have just escaped poverty, and households with average living standards. When participating in projects, households are discussed and selected with projects that are suitable to the conditions and needs of each family and locality; suitable to the program's objectives and legal regulations; and are allowed to participate in technical training, technology transfer, etc.

Thanks to that, crops and livestock grow and develop well; contributing to creating jobs and increasing income for people, especially poor households, near-poor households and ethnic minorities.
