Mr. Nguyen Nhu Sang's family has lived in Dong Goc hamlet for 30 years, but it was not until 2016 that they had electricity to use. "The line after my family's meter is more than 1.2km long, so the voltage is very low, the fan runs very weakly. In the hot season, we cannot use the air conditioner or the washing machine because the electricity is too weak. In addition, the power line crosses the aquaculture ponds and is supported by low wooden pillars, which is very dangerous. Not only my family, in this Dong Goc hamlet area, there are more than 20 households facing difficulties with electricity. We have continuously petitioned for this issue for the past 4 years but it has not been resolved, the electricity is still far from home!" - Mr. Sang said.

The line behind the meter of Mr. Nguyen Nhu Sang's family and other households is quite temporary and dangerous.
The power line behind the meter of Mr. Nguyen Nhu Sang's family and other households is quite temporary and dangerous.

According to Mr. Sang, before the merger of Khanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan provinces, along Hoang Sa route there was a complete power supply system, low voltage power station, and street power managed by Ninh Thuan Power Company. Previously, Mr. Sang's family and many other households had contacted Ninh Thuan Power Company to register to use electricity from this system but were unsuccessful. The households continued to petition Khanh Hoa Power Joint Stock Company, but up to now the company's power supply system is still more than 1km away from the residential area of Dong Goc hamlet.

Not only that, the people here are also facing many difficulties and shortages of domestic water. Mr. Nguyen Nhu Chi's family, who has lived in Dong Goc hamlet since 1993, said: Lack of electricity and domestic water has been a pressing problem for people in the hamlet for many years. Only families with conditions invest 50 - 80 million VND to drill wells. Some households use water from dug wells but often lack water and are contaminated with alum, especially in the dry season. My family does not have a well or a well, so every month we have to buy water from My Thanh hamlet. On average, we buy 7m3 of water per month at a price of 120,000 VND/ m3 . The family is poor, but spending more than 800,000 VND per month to buy water makes the cost of living very high, while there are many things to spend on in daily life. In Dong Goc hamlet, there are about 25 households that have to buy domestic water like my family.

According to many local people, currently the central areas of Nuoc Ngot and My Thanh villages have been supplied with domestic water, while Dong Goc hamlet is located in the middle, about 1.5km from the water supply system of these two villages. Therefore, people hope that the People's Committee of Nam Cam Ranh commune will pay attention to investing in bringing domestic water to Dong Goc area to serve the essential needs of the people.

Mr. Nguyen Binh Nam - Vice Chairman of Nam Cam Ranh Commune People's Committee said: The Commune People's Committee has grasped the reflections of Dong Goc hamlet residents about the difficult situation of electricity and domestic water. On the afternoon of July 9, Nam Cam Ranh Commune People's Committee coordinated with Cam Ranh - Khanh Son Electricity Management Team ( Khanh Hoa Electricity Joint Stock Company) to survey the situation of electricity supply and use in Dong Goc hamlet residential area. After grasping the specific situation, Nam Cam Ranh Commune People's Committee will make recommendations to Khanh Hoa Electricity Joint Stock Company to consider investing and bringing electricity to this area to serve the daily life and production needs of the people. In addition, the Commune People's Committee has also surveyed the domestic water needs of the people here and will work with the water supply unit to find a solution to supply domestic water for people on both sides of Hoang Sa road through Dong Goc hamlet area.
