Attending the event, on the side of BSR were Mr. Bui Ngoc Duong - Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Nguyen Viet Thang - General Director, along with members of the Board of Directors, Board of Directors of Dung Quat Oil Refinery and leaders of specialized departments. On the side of customer partners, there were representatives of the Joint Venture of Vietnam Petrochemical Technology Joint Stock Company and Binh Son Petroleum Packaging and Trading Joint Stock Company.
Previously, sulfur at Dung Quat Oil Refinery was produced in liquid form, requiring maintenance at high temperatures (120 - 150°C), causing difficulties in storage and transportation and posing many potential safety risks. At the same time, the market for liquid sulfur was limited due to the requirement for specialized equipment and receiving infrastructure.
Affirming the determination of Vietnam National Energy and Industry Group and its member units in implementing Resolution 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science , technology and innovation, based on market reality, BSR has built a roadmap for research, investment, installation and operation of granulation and packaging systems for granulated sulfur right at the Sulfur Treatment Unit (SRU), opening up a new direction in product diversification, reducing logistics costs and accessing a wider market.
From a by-product sold at a very cheap price, BSR has transformed into a main product with high economic value and has been very positively received by the market. Along with putting the SRU1 workshop back into operation in parallel with SRU2, BSR has improved its ability to process high-sulfur crude oil and expanded the input crude oil basket for the Refinery. The production of BSR branded granular sulfur not only demonstrates the initiative and flexibility in production activities but also represents a typical mark of the spirit of continuous innovation in the development process and also BSR's commitment to the energy transition roadmap and the process of building a green, environmentally friendly oil refinery.
Granular sulfur products have many outstanding advantages: easy to package and preserve for a long time, convenient to transport by container, no need for specialized equipment, minimize the risk of fire and explosion and limit the emission of sulfur dust into the environment. The stability and safety of the product meet the high technical requirements in industries such as DAP/NPK fertilizer production, sulfuric acid, pesticides, paper, rubber, metallurgy, etc.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Viet Thang - General Director of BSR affirmed: "In the context of the world facing great challenges in climate change and environmental protection. The launch of sulfur granules today is not only a step forward in technology, but also an affirmation of BSR's strategic orientation: Pioneering innovation, linking environmental protection responsibility with economic development".
At the ceremony, Mr. Dang Dinh Ngoc Diep - Deputy Director of Dung Quat Oil Refinery represented BSR to hand over the granulated sulfur product to Mr. Phan Quoc Toan - Director of Binh Son Petroleum Packaging and Trading Joint Stock Company, representing the Joint Venture Contractor. The product handover ceremony symbolizes the close cooperation and long-term commitment between the two parties in the consumption of granulated sulfur products.
The launch of sulfur granules not only marked a technological success, but also clearly demonstrated BSR's strategic orientation: pioneering innovation, effectively utilizing resources, and combining economic development with responsibility for environmental protection and sustainable development.
