Brentford sends ultimatum to Man United

Manchester United continue to struggle in the transfer market as their latest bid for Bryan Mbeumo was flatly rejected by Brentford.

Mbeumo still cannot join MU.

Although Mbeumo is said to have "nodded" to the prospect of playing for the "Red Devils", the club has confirmed that they will not let him leave without receiving the desired fee. According to British media, MU's latest offer is worth around 55 million pounds plus add-ons.

However, Brentford want more than the £62.5m they paid for Matheus Cunha from Wolves, and Mbeumo is an asset that cannot be sold for cheap.

Director of football Phil Giles said: “He scored 20 goals in the Premier League last season. We knew there would be interest and that is what is happening. Bryan has his own plans for the future - which is perfectly understandable. But if you want to have him, the offer has to be financially sound.”

While he is open to selling Mbeumo, Giles has not ruled out keeping him at Brentford for another season: “If Bryan is still here next season, we’d be happy. To be honest, it would save me a lot of headaches.”

Brentford are determined not to sell Mbeumo for cheap.

With coach Thomas Frank leaving to join Tottenham along with four assistants, and captain Christian Norgaard about to join Arsenal for £15 million, Brentford have remained unusually calm. The club's management believes that being "blood-sucked" is not a cause for concern, but on the contrary, a sign that they are on the right track.

“We don’t feel attacked. On the contrary, when your players are interested in big clubs, it is a positive sign,” Giles emphasized at the introduction of new head coach Keith Andrews.

The football director also affirmed that Brentford's operating philosophy is to know how to sell players at the right time and be ready to give opportunities to other potential players. Typical examples such as: Maupay - Watkins - Toney - Mbeumo - Wissa are proof of the reasonable succession chain of this team.

Brentford’s message to United is clear: Mbeumo is not up for grabs. If United really want the Cameroonian, they will have to pay the full price. If not, Brentford are prepared to keep the star and continue to build in a way that is sustainable and not dependent on any one individual.
