At a press conference on July 2 in Hanoi, Colonel Pham Kim Dinh, Director of the Department of Political Affairs, Ministry of Public Security , said that the tournament is an activity to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the People's Public Security Traditional Day (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the 20th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection (August 19, 2005 - August 19, 2025). This is an international sports exchange activity with profound political and diplomatic significance for the People's Public Security force.
Organized exclusively for the Police forces of ASEAN countries and partners, the tournament is not only an opportunity for police officers and soldiers of the countries to practice their health and develop team spirit, but also a playground to strengthen friendship and cooperation between forces tasked with ensuring security and order in the region.
The 2025 ASEAN Police Football Tournament is organized by the Ministry of Public Security; assigned to the Department of Political Work to preside over and coordinate with functional units of the Ministry of Public Security, the Vietnam People's Public Security Sports Association, the Vietnam Sports Department, the Vietnam Football Federation, and Vietnam Television, with the active support of many units and sponsors.

The tournament took place from July 5 to July 15 at Hang Day Stadium, Hanoi and PVF Stadium, Hung Yen, with the participation of 8 teams from 7 countries, including 5 teams in ASEAN (Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Singapore, Timor Leste); 1 team outside ASEAN (Australia) and 2 teams from the host country (CAND Vietnam I and CAND Vietnam II).
The organizing committee has developed a methodical, scientific and thoughtful organization plan, from professional work, logistics, communications to foreign affairs, security and healthcare. The opening ceremony will be solemnly held at 7:00 p.m. on July 9 at Hang Day Stadium. The closing ceremony and award ceremony will be held after the final match on July 15. In addition, sideline activities such as exchanges, welcome parties, and visits to natural and cultural heritages will also be held, demonstrating the friendliness and hospitality of Vietnam.

“We expect the tournament to be a bridge of friendship, contributing to strengthening international cooperation on security, while promoting the image of a peaceful, developed Vietnam and hospitable Vietnamese people to international friends; affirming that Vietnam is ready to be a friend, reliable and responsible partner of the international community,” said the Director of the Department of Political Work.
Regarding the tournament, Colonel Mai The Lam, Head of the Sports Department, Department of Political Affairs, said that there are many sideline activities within the framework of the tournament. Specifically, embassies, diplomatic missions, and representatives of countries with participating football teams will pay courtesy visits to leaders of the Ministry of Public Security and host a reception for delegates, officials, referees, and teams participating in the tournament. All teams participating in the tournament will visit natural and cultural heritages in Quang Ninh province.

The Head of the Sports Department also said that on June 19, the Organizing Committee, the Vietnam Football Federation and T&T Group Joint Stock Company coordinated to organize professional meetings for the teams and draw lots to divide the competition groups online and arrange the competition schedule.
Specifically, the 4 teams in Group A including CAND Vietnam I, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia will compete at Hang Day Stadium, Hanoi. The 4 teams in Group B including CAND Vietnam II, Australia, Singapore, Timor Leste will compete at PVF Stadium, Hung Yen province. The first, second, and third rounds of the group stage will be played in Hanoi and Hung Yen on July 7, 9, and 11. The semi-finals will be played at Hang Day Stadium, Hanoi on July 13. The finals will be played at Hang Day Stadium on July 15. The matches will be broadcast live on FPT Play channel of FPT Television, expected to be relayed by Vietnam Television, ANTV, and local channels.
The prize for the winning team includes: A plaque, Cup, Medals and a prize of 30,000 USD. The prize for the second-place team includes: A plaque, Cup, Medals and a prize of 15,000 USD. The third-place team includes: A plaque, Cup, Medals and a prize of 10,000 USD. The team that wins the style competition will receive a plaque and a prize of 5,000 USD. In addition, the Organizing Committee will also award the following additional prizes: Best player, best goalkeeper, player with the most goals, best referee team; and Best player of each match.

Speaking at the press conference, Deputy Secretary General of the Vietnam Football Federation - Ms. Nguyen Thanh Ha also emphasized that the 2025 ASEAN Police Football Tournament has a profound diplomatic and humanistic nature. This is a playground to enhance understanding and solidarity between the Public Security Forces and the Police of ASEAN countries and international friends. The Football Federation is committed to closely coordinating with the Organizing Committee so that the tournament is run professionally and in accordance with international standards.
Ms. Nguyen Thanh Ha also said that the Federation invited 2 referees from Malaysia, 1 referee from Hong Kong (China), 1 referee from Thailand to participate in the tournament with the referee from Vietnam. The Federation will send a team to supervise the matches, coordinators, and referee supervisors with high professional qualifications, who have participated in many international tournaments. The impartiality and qualifications of the referee team and the supervisory team will create a fair and attractive tournament, spreading the spirit of noble sportsmanship, true to the slogan that the tournament aims for: "Solidarity - Honesty - Nobility", spreading the image of a hospitable and rich-in-identity Vietnam to international friends.
