The first highlight of this cooperation is the two sides' coordination in deploying the comprehensive digital payment solution mobiPOS for the public administration sector. This solution integrates the cashless payment system between MobiFone 's mobiPOS platform and VPBank's payment solutions such as SmartPOS, SoftPOS, QR Payment, Ecompay, etc., thereby supporting state agencies, public administration centers, and public transaction points in modernizing the collection and disbursement process, enhancing transparency, convenience and safety for people. This system has been successfully piloted and is ready to be replicated at MobiFone's transaction points nationwide in the near future.
The two sides are also cooperating to deploy the Agent Banking model on the network of MobiFone points of sale and stores nationwide. When deployed, this model will allow people in rural and remote areas to access basic financial services such as opening eKYC accounts, interbank deposits/withdrawals, bill payments, telecommunications top-ups, credit card registration and consumer loans, etc. through MobiFone's existing infrastructure. This is a potential direction to promote financial inclusion and support the goal of universalizing banking services to people without traditional bank accounts.
The strategic cooperation between VPBank and MobiFone focuses on developing a portfolio of integrated digital financial products, taking mobile devices as the central point of contact, including:
- Open a VPBank account, register for a credit card, and use savings services via the My MobiFone app and MobiFone Money e-wallet.
- Mobile Subscriber Scoring (MobiScoring) – based on consumer behavior analysis from telecommunications data.
- “Buy Now Pay Later” payment model for telecommunications services.
- eKYC identification solution via chip-embedded citizen identification card.
In the medium term, the two sides agreed to jointly build the “SME Biz Hub” platform – a comprehensive financial and telecommunications solution for small and medium enterprises. The solution integrates synchronous services such as electronic invoices, business credit, specialized payment cards, preferential data packages, etc. to support digital transformation for small and medium enterprises in Vietnam.
Deep and long-term partnership
The cooperation between VPBank and MobiFone does not stop at the product level, but is the result of a strategic engagement process that began in 2017. In the first phase, the two sides cooperated to deploy consumer loan services via subscription, co-branded credit cards, incentive programs and cross-customer care.
During the COVID-19 pandemic (2020–2022), the two sides quickly coordinated to develop contactless payment solutions (QR Pay), integrate e-wallets and connect the banking - telecommunications ecosystem, contributing to meeting the sudden increase in digital transaction demand.
From 2023–2025, the cooperation will continue to be enhanced with the deep integration of payment solutions and operating platforms of both parties. In addition to the finance and telecommunications sector, VPBank and MobiFone will also expand their cooperation to digital technology services such as CRM systems, eOffice, Cloud, ClipTV television, digital healthcare solutions and online English training for businesses.
