After a big win in the opening match, the Vietnam Women's Team entered the second match against the UAE with a strong determination to win to consolidate their top position in the group. Being highly regarded and playing at home, the Vietnam Women's Team did not encounter too many difficulties in controlling the game from the start and continuously organizing attacks towards the UAE goal.
Vietnam women's team dominates opponent
Coach Mai Duc Chung's players continuously laid siege to the opponent's goal, forcing the UAE defense to deploy a large number of players to block them. In the 11th minute, the goal finally came to the Vietnamese women's team when, from an attack, Chuong Thi Kieu headed the opening goal for the home team.
The goal helped the Vietnamese players to be very excited and in the 14th minute, Thai Thi Thao raised the score to 2-0 thanks to the lack of concentration of the UAE defense. During the first 20 minutes, the UAE players had almost no chance to attack. The away team was constantly under pressure from the home team and had almost no chance to launch an attack.
In the 33rd minute, UAE broke into the home team's penalty area, Chuong Thi Kieu was able to clear the goal of goalkeeper Kim Thanh. Then, in the 43rd minute, Nguyen Thi Van headed the ball to raise the score to 3-0 for the Vietnamese women's team.
In the second half, the Vietnamese players continued to attack the UAE goal. In the 51st minute, the score was 4-0 and the scorer was Nguyen Thi Van. In the 64th minute, Van Su assisted Hai Yen to raise the score to 5-0 for the Vietnamese Women's Team.
After the 5th goal, coach Mai Duc Chung withdrew many key players to rest, so the pressure was no longer heavy on the UAE field, but the West Asian players still had no chance to trouble goalkeeper Kim Thanh's goal.
Victory over UAE helps Vietnam Women's Team firmly hold the top position in Group E
Before the match ended, Van Su scored the winning goal, 6-0, for the Vietnamese team. With this big win, the Vietnamese women's team continued to solidify their position at the top of Group E with 6 points after 2 consecutive wins.
Speaking after the match, coach Mai Duc Chung expressed his satisfaction with the result, but also pointed out some points that needed improvement: “The score of 6-0 is what we wanted. However, there are still mistakes in the playing style that need to be overcome, such as better coordination in attack, accurate passing… Besides, I asked the players to get closer, especially in situations where the opponent serves short balls.
Talking about the upcoming opponent, coach Mai Duc Chung said: “I have watched Guam play, they have good physical strength. The Vietnamese team needs to coordinate quickly, play short balls to overcome the opponent's strength.”
