[Video] Ho Chi Minh City: Dengue fever is complicated, many severe cases hospitalized

Dengue fever is becoming more and more complicated in Ho Chi Minh City as the rainy season begins. According to statistics from the City Center for Disease Control, in the first 27 weeks of 2025, more than 14,000 cases were recorded, an increase of more than 150% over the same period last year. Notably, there have been 6 deaths due to dengue fever, mostly children.

At Children's Hospital 1, every day, children are admitted with dengue shock, circulatory failure, blood clotting disorders, and gastrointestinal bleeding. Severe cases progress rapidly, requiring timely emergency care and close monitoring.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has directed hospitals to strengthen monitoring, early detection of cases, organize proper treatment regimens and ensure adequate medical supplies, medicines, infusions and blood products. At the same time, the health sector has coordinated with districts to organize campaigns to eradicate mosquito larvae and inspect areas at risk of outbreaks in residential areas. People are advised to proactively prevent the disease by cleaning their homes, covering water containers, killing mosquitoes and larvae, using mosquito nets when sleeping and taking patients to medical facilities when there are signs of suspicion. Active community cooperation is an important factor in controlling the epidemic and protecting the health of the entire population.
