Over the years, Germany has always been a potential international tourist market for Vietnam.

To further attract German tourists to Vietnam, on June 30 in Munich, Bavaria (Southern Germany), the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism in coordination with the Tourism Development Support Fund, the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany and Vietnam Airlines organized a program to introduce Vietnam tourism 2025 to German tourists and tourism businesses.

According to a VNA reporter in Germany, this program is part of the tourism industry's 2025 tourism promotion series in the European market, aiming to provide tourists and businesses with the latest information on the "Vietnam - Hue Tourism Year 2025" campaign, new tourism trends and products for the German market, and updates on connecting flights and services from Vietnam Airlines.

The program also creates opportunities for businesses from both countries to exchange and cooperate directly. In addition to representatives of the organizing units, the program also includes a number of travel companies and many German tourists interested in Vietnam.

Speaking at the program, Mr. Ha Van Sieu, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, said that in 2025, Vietnam and Germany will celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations (1975-2025).

Over the past half century, the Vietnam-Germany relationship has been continuously strengthened and developed strongly in the fields of politics, economics, trade, investment, education, science, culture and tourism. Both countries share many common values, including the preservation and promotion of heritage, culture and sustainable development.

In that context, the program to introduce Vietnamese tourism in Munich city has special significance. This is not only a simple measure to promote tourism but also a vivid symbol of the connection between two nations with a tradition of friendship and cooperation.

Mr. Ha Van Sieu shared that in 2024, Vietnam will welcome nearly 250,000 German tourists. In the first 5 months of 2025, the number of German tourists to Vietnam reached nearly 140,000 people, an increase of more than 16% over the same period last year - a positive signal and evidence of the great potential in promoting tourism exchange between the two countries.

German tourists are characterized by their pursuit of profound experiences in the fields of culture, history and nature, their preference for long trips, their environmental friendliness and their respect for local identity.

“Slow travel” combined with sustainable values, environmental protection and personalized experiences is increasingly becoming a mainstream trend in German tourists’ travel preferences.

Therefore, Vietnam is focusing on developing more in-depth, sustainable and unique tourism services, paying attention to personalizing experiences to meet the demanding expectations of German tourists.

Mr. Ha Van Sieu said that cultural tourism activities in Hanoi, Hue, Hoi An, Ninh Binh open up a journey to explore the depth of history, architecture and many traditional cultural beauties of Vietnam. Island and coastal tourist destinations such as Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Quy Nhon are also increasingly popular with German tourists.

Vietnam's tourism industry is constantly diversifying, improving service quality and preserving cultural values, with the desire to bring German and European tourists a complete and meaningful trip in Vietnam, and at the same time hoping that each experience will become a cultural bridge, connecting the friendship between the two peoples of Vietnam and Germany more and more closely.

During the program, representatives of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism provided more useful information for tourists such as information about famous tourist destinations in Vietnam, incentive programs in the 2025 tourism year, and answered many questions from tourists and businesses.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Investment Counselor of the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany, this tourism promotion program is an important part of the "Vietnam-Hue Tourism Year 2025" campaign in the European market. Through this program, the Vietnamese tourism industry wants to introduce to German friends its unique features, from cuisine, culture, handicraft villages to sustainable tourism products.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha said in an online survey by travel company Agoda, Vietnam ranked 5th among the most searched destinations by European tourists in Asia, after Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia and Thailand.

The beautiful landscape, unique culture and hospitality of the Vietnamese people have attracted German tourists.

According to Counselor Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, with their functions and tasks, the Embassy and Consulate General of Vietnam in Germany will actively support businesses from both Vietnam and Germany in coordinating to promote and participate in important tourism trade events; provide logistical support for media delegations and businesses; and support building relationships with local authorities and tourism associations.

Regarding promoting foreign investment in Vietnam's tourism sector, Ms. Ha said that Vietnamese representative agencies in Germany have been actively introducing German businesses to participate in many key projects, such as tourism infrastructure development (resorts, eco-lodges, cruise tourism), aviation partnerships (ground services, regional flights), cultural and ecological tourism projects, and training and professional development programs for tourism staff.

In an interview with VNA, Ms. Tran Thi Hoai Tram, Director of the Hue City Department of Tourism, said that in 2025, Hue will host the National Tourism Year. Therefore, this tourism promotion program is a good opportunity for Hue to promote itself to international tourists, especially German and European tourists.

In the first 5 months of 2025, German tourists to Hue reached 30,000, the third largest group of international tourists to Hue. In the coming time, Germany will continue to be identified as an important market for Hue tourism.

Also at the program, Ms. Petra Schwert, Vietnam Airlines representative in Germany, provided tourists and businesses with a lot of information about Vietnam Airlines' programs and services, especially information about the new Munich-Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City route, helping to connect major cities and tourist centers of the two countries.

She believes that with the potential of Vietnamese destinations and the experience and reputation of Vietnam Airlines, German tourists will experience the highest quality services when traveling to Vietnam with Vietnam Airlines.

On this occasion, Vietnam Airlines presented many gifts to tourists. In addition, tourists also enjoyed many special traditional music performances by Vietnamese folk music artists./.
