Russian Deputy Defense Minister receives Vietnam Friendship Medal

The presence of the Russian delegation and military personnel participating in the parade once again affirms the pivotal role of defense cooperation in the overall good traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien affirmed that the Vietnamese people and army always remember and appreciate the great, righteous and wholehearted support and assistance of the former Soviet Union and present-day Russia in the struggle for independence and national reunification and in the cause of national construction and defense.

The Deputy Minister of National Defense of Vietnam emphasized that the construction of a monument to pay tribute to Soviet military experts who helped Vietnam in the struggle for national independence at the Vietnam Military History Museum by the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense continues to be a clear demonstration of the close relationship and good feelings between the two countries and the two armies. Thereby, it contributes to further strengthening the traditional friendship and feelings between Vietnam and Russia.

He also expressed his delight at the fact that the Vietnam-Russia defense cooperation has been actively and effectively implemented by both sides, achieving many important results.

"Vietnam supports activities chaired by Russia and Laos within the framework of the ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting-Plus Expert Group on Humanitarian Mine Action for the 2024-2027 period," Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien affirmed.

In the coming time, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien suggested that the agencies of the two sides actively and effectively implement the signed cooperation documents, focusing on the following areas: exchanging delegations at all levels; promoting training cooperation; strengthening cooperation between military branches and services, cooperation between agencies, units, academies and schools; exchanging experiences and expertise; military medicine; scientific research cooperation within the framework of the Vietnam - Russia Tropical Center; maintaining coordination and consultation at international multilateral mechanisms and forums on defense, especially those led by ASEAN.

At the dialogue, Senior Lieutenant General Alexander Vasilyevich Fomin congratulated Vietnam on successfully organizing the 80th anniversary of National Day. He expressed gratitude to the Party and State of Vietnam for building a monument to Soviet military experts at the National Museum of Military History.

Lieutenant General Alexander Vasilyevich Fomin affirmed that the close and lasting relationship between Russia and Vietnam has been built on mutual trust over time. He believes that this dialogue will promote defense cooperation between the two countries on the basis of mutual benefit.
