Universal's Jurassic World Rebirth , directed by Gareth Edwards, opened on July 2 in North America, earning $147.3 million after five days in theaters. An estimated $91.5 million of that came from the three-day Independence Day weekend.

Internationally, the film opened in 82 markets, including China, adding $171 million to its opening total. According to Universal, $41.5 million of that came from China, where the film played on 65,000 screens, including 760 IMAX screens.
The cost of producing the latest installment was said by Universal to be $180 million, not including marketing and advertising.

"This is a really great result. Jurassic World: Rebirth is what audiences craved this summer: a huge, exciting and incredibly well-made adventure," said Jim Orr, who oversees domestic distribution for Universal.
The first Jurassic World opened with $208 million in the US in 2015, grossing more than $1.6 billion worldwide. The other two, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Jurassic World : Dominion , opened with $148 million (grossing more than $1.3 billion globally) and $145 million (grossing more than $1 billion globally), respectively.
Jurassic World: Rebirth receives mixed reviews
The latest installment stars Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali and Jonathan Bailey. It is the fourth film in the Jurassic World series and the seventh since Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park hit theaters in the summer of 1993.
The new film received mixed reviews from critics, scoring a 51% on Rotten Tomatoes and a B on CinemaScore from audiences in its opening weekend.
Universal was impressed with the wide audience that attended, ranging from ages 8 to 80, and the fact that the film exceeded box office estimates, despite the reviews.

Brad Pitt's Formula 1 racing film dropped 54% in its second weekend with $26.1 million, bringing its domestic total to $109.5 million. Globally, the film is closing in on the $300 million mark with a current total of $293.6 million.

Universal's live-action How to Train Your Dragon took third place, earning $11 million in its fourth weekend in North America, bringing its domestic total to $224 million and its global total to $516 million. Disney and Pixar's animated Elio came in fourth with $5.7 million. Globally, Elio has just surpassed $96 million in three weeks. 28 Years Later took fifth place with $4.6 million.
In Vietnam, Jurassic World: Rebirth is currently leading the box office with 21.6 billion VND in revenue after 3 days of release, according to Box Office Vietnam.
