Ho Chi Minh City and Intel Corporation cooperate to train human resources in the field of AI

Ho Chi Minh City leaders want Intel to expand its investment in the city, including training high-tech engineers and human resources in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and semiconductor chips.

Ho Chi Minh City and Intel Corporation are coordinated to implement a human resource training program in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI), focusing on officials, civil servants, and those who are working and about to work in the city.

That was the information given at the working session between Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and Ms. Sarah Kemp, Vice President of Global International Government Relations of Intel Corporation, which took place on the afternoon of July 8.

On behalf of the city's leaders, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc chose Intel Corporation for choosing the city's High-Tech Park as the location for the Intel Vietnam factory headquarters and appreciated Intel Vietnam's contributions over the past two decades to the development of the science and technology ecosystem as well as the overall development of Ho Chi Minh City.

Sharing the city's development vision, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc said that after merging with Binh Duong and Ba Ria-Vung Tau provinces, Ho Chi Minh City will have a larger development space and stronger regional connectivity; become the leading center of economic growth, innovation, logistics and finance in Vietnam and the region; open up a space and room for development cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and US partners, especially in advantageous fields such as high technology, education, clean energy, healthcare, etc.

City leaders expressed their wish for Intel Corporation to expand its investment in the city, including training high-tech engineers and human resources in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and semiconductor chips.

Intel Vietnam and the High-Tech Park (SHTP) are working to reach a specific agreement on cooperation content in the field of human resource training in the AI ​​field to meet practical requirements and soon have specific, measurable products.

The city hopes that Intel Corporation will replicate the success of Intel Vietnam and introduce more investors in the high-tech sector to invest and do business in Ho Chi Minh City.

Ms. Sarah Kemp congratulated Ho Chi Minh City on its strong development potential and expressed cautious optimism about the tariff agreement between the United States and Vietnam, hoping that semiconductors and high-tech products will be among the products exempted or given preferential tariffs between the two countries.

Appreciating Vietnam's strategy for developing semiconductor and high-tech products, Ms. Sarah Kemp said that Intel Corporation is one of the first technology companies to implement public-private cooperation with Vietnam on training human resources in the field of AI.

She affirmed that Intel Vietnam is ready to coordinate training for city officials in applying AI in their work as well as training for working and upcoming workers in the necessary skills in the field of AI.

Expressing her interest in the investment support policy under Decree 182/2024/ND-CP of the Government on the Investment Support Fund, Ms. Sarah Kemp said that this is a very valuable policy on investment incentives of Vietnam for qualified enterprises in the field of high-tech development such as Intel Vietnam to benefit from.

She affirmed that Intel Corporation wishes and is ready to accompany and support Ho Chi Minh City in developing transport infrastructure and cooperating in investment in the field of renewable energy.

Mr. Kennth Tse, General Director of Intel Vietnam, said that after nearly 20 years of presence in Vietnam, Intel Vietnam has exported more than 4 billion products, contributing more than 100 billion USD to Vietnam's exports.

Currently, Intel Vietnam has been and is continuing to apply new technologies of Intel Corporation in its products, in which, in the past three months, it has started producing the most advanced 18A chip product line of the corporation; helping Vietnam have the opportunity to access new technologies, improve the quality of human resources in this field.

Head of the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park (SHTP) Nguyen Ky Phung said that the cooperation between the High-Tech Park and Intel Vietnam is very good and has positive results.

Currently, Intel's AI human resource training program in the city focuses on state officials, civil servants, and graduated students, working people, and people about to work who have a need for AI applications.

The two sides have established a working group to conduct research on the cooperation framework; training program content... in which Intel Vietnam provides training materials and the High-Tech Park provides training subjects./.
