On July 4-5, the Ministry of Education and Training organized a training course on gender-integrated teaching methods in STEM curriculum at teacher training colleges within the framework of the Vietnam - Australia human resource development program 2021-2025 .
The training course is chaired by the Department of Teachers andEducation Managers with technical and financial support from the Australian Embassy in Vietnam through the Aus4Skills program.
Attending the event were leaders of the Department of Teachers and Educational Managers, leaders of the Department of International Cooperation (Ministry of Education and Training); representatives of the Australian Embassy in Vietnam and the Aus4Skiklls Program; and students who are lecturers and educational managers from teacher training institutions across the country.

Over the years, the Australian Government has been committed to supporting the Government of Vietnam in promoting gender equality and inclusion across all areas of cooperation between the two countries, including cooperation activities with the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training through the Aus4Skills program.
Speaking at the opening of the training course, Dr. Vu Minh Duc, Director of the Department of Teachers and Educational Managers, said: This training course is organized to contribute to the implementation of the Action Plan of the Ministry of Education and Training on teaching gender equality content in teacher training colleges. Thereby, contributing to the implementation of the gender equality goal in education of the National Strategy on Gender Equality for the period 2021-2030.
During the two-day training, with the guidance of local and Australian experts, participants discussed gender issues in education - both nationally and internationally; and learned how to develop gender-inclusive curricula and training activities in schools today.
Trainees also practice gender analysis and gender mainstreaming in the curriculum of a number of subjects and educational activities of the teacher training college; plan to implement gender mainstreaming activities in the training program at their educational institution, especially in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

After the training, trainees are equipped with skills related to developing teaching content, as well as teaching methods that help create a favorable learning environment to help students understand more about gender equality and social inclusion.
This training course also contributes to the effective implementation of the Project "Incorporating gender and gender equality content into the training program for college-level teachers in preschool education and university level in the period 2024-2030" of the Ministry of Education and Training, as well as the implementation of the National Strategy on Gender Equality in the period 2021-2030.
The delegates attending the training highly appreciated the significance and usefulness of the training course. It is expected that after this training course, higher education institutions with teacher training will review their training programs, identify gender gaps, as well as opportunities to integrate gender into some teaching contents, so that gender contents can be formally and systematically included in teaching.
