Accordingly, at around 6 p.m. the same day, Mr. Nguyen Duc B. (born in 1954), My Hue 1 village, Binh Duong commune, Binh Son district, along with his grandson Nguyen Duc M. (12 years old) and his granddaughter Nguyen Huynh H. (8 years old) went to Dau river to bathe. However, while bathing, all three of them unfortunately slipped and drowned.
Hearing the cries for help, local people came to the rescue. After a while of effort, people rescued M. and H. and took them to the Binh Son District Medical Center for emergency treatment.
Despite the doctors' best efforts to save them, M. and H. both died due to drowning for too long. At around 8:30 p.m. the same day, authorities and local people recovered Mr. B's body.
According to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Duong Commune, Mr. B's family is in difficult circumstances, and M. is mute. The place where the three of them go swimming is often visited by many people, but this section of the river has strong currents, so it is very dangerous.
Currently, the People's Committee of the commune has assigned associations to support the families in bringing the victims home and assisting the families in arranging the funeral. The local government also advised people not to supervise their children and not to let them go swimming in the river to prevent drowning.
Recently, in Quang Ngai province, there have been many drowning incidents that have caused many people, especially children, to die.
To improve the effectiveness of drowning incident prevention, especially in children, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province Dang Van Minh requested agencies, units and localities to continue to effectively implement Decision No. 14/QD-UBND dated January 10, 2022 of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee on promulgating the Safe Swimming Plan to prevent and combat drowning of children in the period 2022-2030 of Quang Ngai province.
Accordingly, it is necessary to integrate knowledge and skills on drowning prevention for children into the curriculum of core subjects, extracurricular activities, competitions, and Youth Union and Team activities, especially before the summer vacation. Promote the movement of teaching and learning swimming in schools.
At the same time, coordinate with relevant units to propagate and disseminate knowledge and skills on preventing and combating child drowning to students and parents; organize free swimming classes...
