Garcia has become Real Madrid's breakout star at the Club World Cup, despite having previously made just six appearances for the club.
Real Madrid won thrillingly against Dortmund 3-2
Real Madrid made an exciting start to their match against Dortmund in New Jersey. After just 10 minutes, Gonzalo Garcia continued his excellent form by volleying home from Arda Guler's cross.
Less than 10 minutes later, it was Fran Garcia's turn to increase the score to 2-0 from Trent Alexander-Arnold's cross.
Just when everything seemed settled, Maximilian Beier, coming off the bench, suddenly rekindled hope for Dortmund with a goal that reduced the score to 1-2.
Just a few minutes later, Kylian Mbappe scored with a beautiful volley, but the drama did not stop there. Dean Huijsen, the center-back who had just been brought on, fouled Serhou Guirassy in the penalty area and received a red card.
Guirassy himself successfully converted the penalty, ending the match with a score of 3-2 in favor of Real Madrid.
However, the victory was enough to help Kylian Mbappe and his teammates advance to the semi-finals, where they will face PSG. Gonzalo Garcia also rose to the top of the scoring list with 4 goals, equal to Angel Di Maria and Marcos Leonardo (both eliminated).
Desire Doue's second-half goal was his 16th this season in all competitions.
PSG beat Bayern in eventful match
In Atlanta, PSG entered the match against Bayern Munich with great determination. However, the match was soon overshadowed by a serious injury to Jamal Musiala, the young star who had just returned to the first team of Bayern.
After a collision with goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, Musiala held his painful ankle and may have to rest for a long time.
After a goalless but chance-filled first half, the deadlock was broken in the 78th minute when Desire Doue – PSG's hero in the Champions League final – unleashed a left-footed strike that beat Manuel Neuer.
The drama continued to escalate when Willian Pacho received a straight red card for a high tackle on Leon Goretzka. At the end of the match, Lucas Hernandez was also sent off for elbowing Raphael Guerreiro in the face.
Despite being down to nine men, PSG still scored the winning goal in stoppage time thanks to Ousmane Dembele. Before that, Dembele himself had hit the crossbar. Bayern also had a goal from Harry Kane disallowed for offside, and VAR intervened to cancel a penalty at the end of the match.
The match was also the farewell of Thomas Muller, who came on as a substitute and officially ended 17 years of dedication to the Bavarian Tigers.
