Ensuring healthcare is always close to the people
According to the Project to establish the Health Department of Tuyen Quang province on the basis of arranging and merging the Health Departments of Tuyen Quang and Ha Giang provinces, in the immediate future, normal operations will be maintained after the merger, without any organizational disruption, to ensure medical examination, treatment and health care for the people. The stations will continue to be under the regional health centers of communes and wards, and these centers will be under the Department of Health, ensuring professional and unified direction from the province to the commune level.

Lung Cu commune (merged from 3 communes of Lung Cu, Ma Le and Lung Tao), currently has nearly 4,000 households, with over 15,000 people, of which the Mong ethnic group accounts for over 70% of the population. Currently, 3 health stations of 3 old communes still maintain operations according to the old model and location. Bachelor of Nursing Nguyen Duy Dong, Head of Lung Cu Commune Health Station shared: "The policy of merging provinces and communes has received high consensus from the people. I think that maintaining the current health stations is appropriate, avoiding disruption in access to primary health care services, especially for people in remote areas with difficult travel."
Ms. Long Thi Huong, Quang Ha village, Quang Nguyen commune said: “People's health care must be increasingly improved. I hope that the current health stations will not only be maintained as before, but also need to have additional doctors so that with not too complicated diseases, people can feel secure and confident to come for examination and get medicine, without necessarily having to go to the hospital. Therefore, we really hope that the health stations in the communes will continue to be maintained for a long time and become more spacious and convenient.”
Not only in remote communes, but also in central communes and wards with developed economic conditions and more convenient transportation, people expressed their excitement when they heard that local health stations would continue to operate as before. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, Yen Son commune shared: “I have high blood pressure and diabetes, so I have to go to the health station every month to get medicine. My house is 200m from the health station, maintaining the operation of the health station helps me not have to travel further, which is very convenient for regular check-ups and getting medicine”.
For the purpose of serving the people
Maintaining and consolidating health stations after merging administrative units at the commune and ward levels is an important policy of the Ministry of Health and localities, aiming to ensure the goal of serving people in the best way. The whole province currently has 104 health stations at commune and ward levels and 22 regional polyclinics. Currently, 20% of communes in the province do not have doctors. Therefore, to solve the problem of lack of doctors at commune health stations, health centers in many localities in recent years have had to mobilize doctors from the center or from other health stations to support 2 days a week, to ensure health examinations and medicine for some diseases according to regulations for people. The current merger of communes will also partly solve the difficulty of lacking doctors at commune health stations.
The health sector has determined that maintaining the stable operation of health stations not only helps people feel secure but also contributes to maintaining the grassroots health system - the frontline in disease prevention and control and health care for the whole population. At the same time, the health sector will review the situation in each locality to advise competent authorities to supplement human resources and invest in appropriate infrastructure, especially in difficult areas.
Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hung, Director of Tuyen Quang Department of Health said: "In the immediate future, we will focus on the most important goal that all people, whether in favorable areas or remote areas, will receive full and timely health care, without being affected by any administrative changes."
