Pham Van Dong lane division on the first day, motorbikes flooded into the car lane

On July 4, the first day of implementing the hard barrier lane division on Pham Van Dong Street (Hanoi), traffic on the route was chaotic, motorbikes continuously entered the lane reserved for cars.

On July 4, the Hanoi Department of Construction began implementing a plan to adjust traffic organization and lane division for vehicles on Pham Van Dong Street with a length of about 4km from the intersection with Hoang Quoc Viet Street to the roundabout into Ciputra urban area.

The option of a hard-barrier lane with two lanes adjacent to the median strip in each direction of the road will be for cars. The remaining lanes next to the sidewalk will be for mixed vehicles. These two groups of lanes will be separated by a hard-barrier strip, vehicles will only be allowed to change lanes at intersections and U-turn points.

According to CAND Newspaper reporters, on the first day of lane separation on Pham Van Dong Street, the situation of motorbikes entering the reserved lane for cars occurred continuously and heavily.

Officers of Traffic Police Team No. 6 (Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police) were assigned to stand guard at the starting point of the route from Hoang Quoc Viet to Pham Van Dong to remind motorcyclists, but the number of vehicles was too large and many people did not comply.

Many motorcyclists gave the reason that it was the first time they were used to the lane separation, and that it was quite a long way to turn around, which was inconvenient.

Traffic police have a hard time reminding motorcyclists to stay in the correct lane.

In the opposite direction, from Hoa Binh Park to Hoang Quoc Viet, there is also a situation of motorbikes entering the car lane.

The situation of motorbikes merging into lanes too quickly causes many car drivers to brake suddenly to avoid them even though they are in the correct lane.
