For over 5 years now, reporters have often visited the tea coffee growing area bordering the Khanh Vinh Pass in Da Nhim and Da Chais communes, Lac Duong district, former Lam Dong province (now Lac Duong commune, Lam Dong province) to enjoy clean tea coffee according to international standards while experiencing the year-round green mountain scenery. The specialty tea coffee here is not only ranked by the American coffee company Starbucks as the world's top quality coffee, but is also implemented by other international organizations for sustainable farming community projects and brings practical daily benefits to the environment.

The female owner of the Chappi Mountains coffee and tea brand, Nguyen Le Thach Thao, has spent nearly 10 years founding cooperatives, cooperatives and companies to build production chains linked to processing and consumption, initially 20 households with 10 hectares, then expanded to 50 households with 30 hectares and now increased to hundreds of households and hundreds of hectares of cultivation, of which the majority of garden owners are indigenous ethnic. “In addition to coordinating with international organizations to support fertilizer supplies, sustainable coffee cultivation techniques, livelihood improvements, raising community awareness about protecting and developing upstream forests for the delta, our company consumes all harvested products and creates more jobs, stabilizing income for local ethnic minority households…”, said Ms. Thach Thao.

Up to now, Chappi Mountains brand coffee products have not only been exported to Europe and countries in the region, but have also shown an indispensable position in high-end supermarket systems and domestic distribution stores, carrying a message to consumers about the responsibility of preserving upstream water sources for coffee producers in the forest. Similar to the tea coffee growing area in Langbiang ward - Da Lat, Mr. Lieng Jrang Ha Hoang (born in 1981) was chosen by the international project to be the focal point for building and expanding cooperation in coffee production without causing deforestation with 7 local households since 2019, with an average area of 0.5 ha/household. Lieng Jrang Ha Hoang also brought 1 hectare of coffee into the production, processing and consumption chain of the cooperative. After nearly 6 years of implementation, the awareness of coffee growers in Langbiang Ward - Da Lat has significantly improved, reflected in the cultivation process that meets safety standards associated with the protection and sustainable development of upstream forests. Lieng Jrang Ha Hoang is also supported by the project with an operating system in the coffee powder processing machinery chain that has been positively received by the market, including a significant number of customers who come to the shop every day to enjoy it directly, hear stories about coffee cultivation without causing deforestation and have their harvested products purchased at a higher price than the market price...

According to research, the coffee production area under the Chappi Muontains and Chu Mui brand cooperation chain is part of the total area of more than 2,750 hectares of the Coffee-Agroforestry Project and Forest Quality Improvement for RDD+ (Cafe-REDD) in Lac Duong commune and Langbiang ward - Da Lat, chaired by the Netherlands Development Organization (SNV) in Vietnam, funded through the International Climate Initiative (ICI) under the German Ministry of the Environment (BMU).
