Data from Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs shows that since the beginning of the year, over 570 enterprises have participated in import and export through Kim Thanh International Road Border Gate No. II. The value of import and export turnover through the border gate reached 662 million USD, down compared to the same period in 2024.
Regarding durian, in the first 6 months of 2025, the export value only reached 24 million USD, while in the first 6 months of 2024 it reached 517 million USD. This is a key product, accounting for a high proportion of the total export value through the border gate.

The reason is that from the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025, Chinese authorities tightened quarantine regulations; inspected 100% of durian shipments, many shipments did not meet China's requirements, causing durian export turnover to decrease sharply.
Other agricultural products such as watermelon, dragon fruit, cassava, and lychee recorded a sharp increase in export value compared to the same period in 2024.
Specifically, the export turnover of dragon fruit in the first 6 months of the year reached 85 million USD; lychee nearly 27 million USD; watermelon over 15 million USD; cassava nearly 17 million USD...

Currently, durian exports through Lao Cai Border Gate are showing positive signs again, with an average of 5-8 durian trucks clearing customs each day.
China continues to be a major market for Vietnamese agricultural products. It is forecasted that agricultural import and export activities through Lao Cai Border Gate will become active again, especially from the end of July, when the durian harvest in the Central Highlands enters its main season.
