With diverse advantages and potentials in natural resources, climate and unique culture, Vietnam is not only successful in exporting agricultural products, but is also a country with many specialties and products with local cultural values, most clearly demonstrated by the image of Vietnamese OCOP products.
Fair of OCOP export products in 2024
In recent years, the Vietnamese business community has increasingly focused on developing products according to OCOP standards. This has had a positive impact on rural economic development, contributing to the transformation from small-scale agricultural production to production in the direction of value chain linkage, according to standards, regulations, traceability and market demand; unleashing the potential of land, products, comparative advantages, especially regional cultural values to form integrated OCOP products. Many OCOP products have been innovated and created to improve quality, access export markets, targeting even demanding markets with high value.
By the end of 2024, the country had 14,642 OCOP products with 3 stars or more (an increase of 3,586 products compared to 2023), of 8,086 OCOP entities. Of which, 79 new products met the standards and were recognized as 5-star OCOP at the national level; 9 products were re-recognized.
The OCOP program has had positive and significant impacts on rural economic development, such as: contributing to changes in production organization in rural areas towards value chain linkage, stimulating the potential of land, products, and comparative advantages of the locality; OCOP products meet quality and food safety standards and regulations; have diverse designs and packaging that are environmentally friendly, suitable for market requirements. In addition, the program also contributes to creating more jobs, promoting the direction of livelihood development in particularly difficult areas and vulnerable groups such as ethnic minorities and women; helping subjects to be proactive in market development, expanding distribution channels, expanding production and business activities.
It can be seen that many localities across the country are focusing on developing OCOP product groups. Therefore, organizing the Fair of OCOP export products will support Vietnamese enterprises, cooperatives, and OCOP entities to introduce and promote products, seek partners, and develop markets not only domestically but also internationally through opportunities to connect, exchange, and cooperate directly with trade promotion organizations, enterprises, and foreign importers. At the same time, OCOP entities also have the opportunity to exchange and learn about the strict requirements of the world market and study the possibility of expanding export scale.
Within the framework of the Fair, the following events will also take place: Seminar: "Application of Digital Transformation in developing OCOP exports"; Forum: Global consumption trends & opportunities for OCOP exports; Connecting trade between Vietnamese enterprises and international importers; Livestream program: OCOP 4.0 - With Vietnamese products reaching out to the world; Processing dishes from OCOP products...
