Coach Mai Duc Chung and his team continued to affirm their mettle by winning their second consecutive victory in Group E, the 2026 Women's Asian Cup qualifiers. After a 7-0 win over Maldives in the opening match, the Vietnamese women's team had another overwhelming victory with a score of 6-0 against the UAE on the evening of July 2.
Right from the first minutes, the Vietnamese women's team proactively pushed up their formation, dominating the UAE. Striker Huynh Nhu continuously created dangerous attacks in the first 10 minutes of the match.
In the 11th minute, the deadlock was broken after Chuong Thi Kieu's accurate header from a corner kick on the left wing. Just 3 minutes later, the UAE defense made a mistake, creating conditions for Thai Thi Thao to run up and shoot accurately, raising the score to 2-0.
After that, the Vietnamese women's team continued to maintain pressure. Attacks mainly came from the left wing and were exploited very effectively.
In the 41st minute, Thu Thao broke through from the right wing and crossed the ball accurately to the far post for Nguyen Thi Van to jump high and head the ball into the net, helping the home team lead 3-0 before entering the break.
In the second half, the Vietnamese women's team continued to dominate the game and created many dangerous opportunities. Nguyen Thi Van completed her double in the 51st minute, before Hai Yen increased the score to 5-0 in the 64th minute.
In the final minute of extra time, Van Su scored the winning goal, sealing a convincing 6-0 victory for coach Mai Duc Chung and his team. In this half, coach Mai Duc Chung also made some personnel adjustments to save the strength of his key players for the final round.
In the early match, Guam won 3-0 against Maldives. The results in the second round helped the Vietnamese women's team continue to top Group E with 6 points, scoring 13 goals and not conceding any. The two following positions belong to UAE (4 points) and Guam is second to last with 1 point.
The Vietnamese women's team will have the final match of the 2026 Asian Cup Women's Qualifiers against Guam on July 5.
