Nobel Peace Prize honors anti-nuclear weapons organization

On the afternoon of October 11, the Norwegian Nobel Committee announced that the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize belongs to the Nihon Hidankyo organization (Japan) for its efforts towards a world without nuclear weapons.

Mr. Jorgen Watne Frydnes, Chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, emphasized that Nihon Hidankyo was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for its efforts towards a world without nuclear weapons and for showing through eyewitness accounts that nuclear weapons should never be used again.

The Nobel Peace Prize ceremony will take place at Oslo City Hall (Norway) on December 10, coinciding with the Nobel Prizes in Medicine, Physics, Chemistry, Literature and Economics in Sweden.

The Nobel Peace Prize recipient will be awarded a medal, a diploma and a prize worth more than $1 million.
