Fire and explosion hazard
Since the beginning of the year, there have been many fires in the city causing great damage to property, affecting people's lives and spirits.
Typically, on the morning of July 8, a fabric warehouse on Nguyen Dinh Tuu Street (An Khe Ward) caught fire fiercely. More than 6 specialized vehicles and dozens of officers and soldiers from the Fire Fighting and Rescue Team of Region 4 (under the Da Nang City Police) were mobilized to the scene.
Because the warehouse contained a lot of scraps of fabric, the fire spread quickly with thick black smoke, so the authorities had to break down the door, wear gas masks and divide into many teams to approach and control the fire.
By noon of the same day, the fire was completely extinguished, but all the fabric in the warehouse was burned, there were no human casualties.
Ms. Ha Ngoc Thuy (Hoa Xuan ward) said that the risk of fire and explosion is always latent, especially in residential areas, apartments, and factories.
Every citizen needs to voluntarily raise awareness, regularly check the electrical system in the family, and strictly comply with regulations on fire prevention and fighting.
Authorities need to increase propaganda, train people in handling situations, and equip them with knowledge of fire prevention and fighting.
According to the Fire Fighting and Rescue Team of Region 4, since the beginning of the year, the unit has received and handled 9 fires with property damage of about 200 million VND, fortunately no casualties. Most of the fires occurred in residential areas and factories, mainly due to electrical short circuits.
To raise public awareness, the unit has organized more than 10 sessions to disseminate laws on fire prevention and fighting, and provide guidance on escape skills and fire and explosion handling for residents, traders, and workers.
In addition, the force also coordinated with localities to deploy 223 models of "Fire Prevention and Fighting Inter-family Teams", 783 "Public Fire Fighting Points" and 177 "Initial Fire Fighting Points", contributing to improving the ability to self-prevent and self-manage fire prevention and fighting right at the grassroots level.
Improve prevention skills
Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Van Thuong, Head of the Fire Fighting and Rescue Team of Region 4, said that in the coming time, the hot weather situation is forecast to continue to develop complicatedly, leading to a high risk of fire and explosion in residential areas, apartment buildings, industrial parks and markets.
People, businesses, market management boards, and traders need to be vigilant, raise awareness and responsibility in fire prevention and fighting, and pay special attention to safe use of electricity.
Many fires in recent times have been caused by electrical short circuits or electrical overload. In many traditional markets built long ago, old electrical systems can easily increase the risk of electrical short circuits.
In addition, some people and traders are careless in using fire. Many cases of burning incense, burning votive paper, and smoking can easily lead to fire and explosion.
According to the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department (Da Nang City Police), since the beginning of the year, there have been 34 fires in the city, causing no human casualties and property damage of about 460 million VND. Compared to the same period in 2024, the number of fires decreased by 19 cases. The police force has dispatched 94 vehicles and 618 officers and soldiers to the scene to directly fight the fire.
Most fires are caused by electrical short circuits and carelessness in the use of electricity.
According to the representative of the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Police Department, in order to ensure fire prevention and fighting and rescue work in the area, in the coming time, the unit will proactively follow the direction and plan of the Ministry of Public Security , City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and City Police. In particular, focusing on propaganda and training in fire prevention and fighting skills; practicing fire fighting plans in markets and residential areas; mobilizing the equipment of portable fire extinguishers.
In addition, the police force regularly inspects, reminds, and handles violations due to failure to ensure fire prevention and fighting safety.
In addition, direct officers and soldiers to enhance their sense of responsibility, vigilance, and 24/7 duty, and ensure equipment and means to effectively carry out firefighting, rescue, and relief work when incidents occur.
