According to the report of the Van Phong Economic Zone Management Board, 4 projects are behind schedule due to their relation to forest land, including: Bai Cay Bang Eco-tourism Project of Ho Hai Company Limited; Van Phong High-class Resort Project of Van Phong Tourism Service Joint Stock Company; Whitesand Resort Project of Cat Trang Investment and Development Joint Stock Company; Bai Ca Ong Eco-tourism Project of Van Phong Investment and Development Joint Stock Company. The projects were licensed for investment a long time ago, but due to many problems, none of them have been completed and put into operation. The biggest problem is that all 4 projects are related to forest land. The Van Phong Economic Zone Management Board proposed that the Provincial People's Committee consult the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee for appropriate handling. After receiving instructions, the management board will guide investors to adjust project investment procedures according to regulations.
Regarding this issue, the leader of the Department of Agriculture and Environment said that in case the project land has an area of natural forest, the investor is requested to carry out procedures to move it out of the project boundary, or carry out procedures to lease the forest, and change the purpose of forest use. For land areas without forest, not included in the planning of 3 types of forests and forest land allocation targets, the project will be implemented in accordance with other relevant planning.
Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Trinh Minh Hoang emphasized that in order to achieve the double-digit growth target, the authorities need to quickly remove difficulties and obstacles for projects in the whole province. He assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to review all projects in Van Phong Economic Zone related to forest land area from now until July 20, report and advise the Provincial People's Committee on how to handle the situation so that the Provincial People's Committee can ask for the opinion of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee.
