Two products: Bac Lieu refined salt and Bac Lieu grain salt of Bac Lieu Salt Joint Stock Company (Ca Mau province) are the first local products to achieve 5-star OCOP certification, marking an important milestone in the journey of developing regional specialty products.

This achievement is the result of continuous efforts from salt workers, businesses and local authorities in preserving and developing traditional occupations as well as improving product quality to meet domestic and international standards.

Bac Lieu salt products are packaged according to a process that ensures hygiene, safety and quality.

Since 2013, Bac Lieu salt products (formerly) have been granted a certificate of geographical indication registration by the Intellectual Property Office. By 2020, Bac Lieu salt making was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a national intangible cultural heritage.

The salt making profession of Bac Lieu (old) has been recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a national intangible cultural heritage.

According to a report from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ca Mau province, the province currently has a total of 354 OCOP products, of which 2 products have achieved 5-star rating, 79 products have achieved 4-star rating and 273 products have achieved 3-star rating.

Ca Mau salt products achieving 5-star OCOP not only enhance the value of local agricultural products, but also open up great opportunities for traditional products to reach out to national and international markets.
