Along with the Techcombank Visa Eco payment card, the launch of the Techcombank Visa Eco credit card has completed the first green payment card and credit card duo in Vietnam, affirming Techcombank's pioneering role in providing outstanding financial solutions, serving the sustainable lifestyle of customers and accompanying the Government to bring the country into the era of modernization, digitalization, greening and sustainable development.

With the ability to track carbon footprints on every expenditure, the Techcombank Visa Eco card duo is not only a modern means of payment but also a declaration of a responsible generation, always aware of the environmental impact of each behavior and the role of each citizen in realizing Vietnam's Net Zero commitment by 2050.

In which, carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions (mainly CO2, methane and other gases) directly and indirectly emitted into the environment by an individual or organization when performing activities such as traveling, consuming clothes and food, producing goods, organizing events... By calculating and tracking carbon footprint, each person can better understand their own impacts on climate change and find ways to effectively reduce or offset them.

Techcombank Visa Eco credit card is also a symbol of modern and stylish lifestyle.

Ms. Nguyen Van Linh - Deputy Director of Techcombank Retail Banking - said: "In just 6 months, more than 626,000 customers who are Techcombank Visa Eco payment card owners have offset 146,000kg of CO2 through reforestation and climate change response projects.

This is also the first Vietnamese product to be honored by the prestigious global ESG Business Awards 2024 for Sustainable Product Design. With the Techcombank Visa Eco credit card, the bank offers more payment options to serve and encourage responsible lifestyles in the community.

By tracking their carbon footprint, each person will be more aware of their and their family's impact on the environment and take practical actions such as changing their consumption habits or compensating with practical contributions. Techcombank's Eco card duo helps customers clearly see the difference they make with each transaction."

Inheriting the superior features of the payment card version, the Techcombank Visa Eco credit card version also applies technology and a conversion model based on the Visa Sustainability Index, estimating greenhouse gas emissions (CO₂e/Carbon) based on the sector and amount of each payment. Users can easily look up emissions in the Eco card management section on the Techcombank Mobile application.

Also in the card management section, customers can choose to offset these emissions by contributing to green projects and initiatives that help reduce emissions and protect the environment. These are projects selected by Techcombank and Visa, and their effectiveness will be verified by prestigious international organizations on climate change and sustainable development such as Golden Standard.

For example, when completing a trip, paying with a Techcombank Visa Eco credit card, the estimated CO₂ emissions based on distance and means of transport will be displayed on the chart, and with just one tap, the cardholder has offset these emissions by contributing to a renewable energy project, contributing to the fight against climate change in Vietnam.

In addition, the “Green Living Points” feature helps customers track their sustainable consumption behavior, compare it with the average data of the community using the Eco card duo, and spread the spirit of protecting the Earth.

Not only is it a financial product that combines technology and environmental protection, Techcombank Visa Eco credit card is also a symbol of modern and stylish lifestyle. The card has 2 versions: a physical card made from recycled PVC plastic with a design that inspires green living and a non-physical version that is only displayed on the application.

Techcombank Visa Eco credit cardholders are exempted from annual fees for life when choosing to use the non-physical card version, and are exempted from the first year's fees for customers using the physical card version, while also enjoying preferential privileges from Techcombank Rewards, Techcombank Inspire and green partners such as Xanh SM, Metro, vegetarian/healthy food restaurants on the GrabFood app, etc. The card is integrated with e-wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay) and supports free cardless cash withdrawals at all Techcombank ATMs.

As one of the largest joint stock banks in Vietnam and gradually expanding its presence beyond the region, Techcombank has continuously affirmed its leading role in implementing Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) standards. In addition to a governance framework that meets strict global requirements, Techcombank's community activities have spread beyond the country, including the international marathon.

Recently, Techcombank has become one of the founding members of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 Center in Ho Chi Minh City, aiming to promote digital transformation and green transformation in the manufacturing sector.
