Elevating Vietnamese agricultural products
In early July, at the production workshop of My Phuong Food Company (Dai La village, Hoa Khanh Nam ward, Da Nang city), the sound of machines running was bustling, the fragrant smell of coconut cakes spread throughout the space. Orders of baked coconut cakes were continuously completed for export to many countries such as China, the US, Israel...

Looking at the carefully packed boxes being loaded onto trucks to be transported to the port, Ms. Mai Thi Y Nhi - co-founder of My Phuong Food Company could not hide her pride when recalling the challenging beginnings. Coming from the land of Tam Quan ( Gia Lai ) famous for its shady coconut trees, she and her husband were determined to turn their existing advantages into a typical product with a strong local identity. "We started from zero, with a simple desire to take advantage of our hometown coconut resources to create delicious, quality cakes," she said.
However, to have a standard baked coconut cake is not simple. Hundreds of failed experiments, sleepless nights by the oven, and almost infinite patience have been exchanged for "sweet fruit": crispy, fragrant coconut cakes called Top Coco, achieving 4-star OCOP, with 5-star potential, are conquering the domestic and export markets.

The most memorable milestone was when the first order to Japan was confirmed. “I felt both happy and pressured at that time. Because when we step out into the world , every process – from choosing ingredients, processing to packaging – must achieve almost absolute precision,” Ms. Y Nhi shared.
From that first milestone, My Phuong Food's export journey expanded rapidly. Without intermediaries, the company connected and signed orders directly with partners in Korea, Taiwan, the US, Laos, France, Mongolia, etc. Each market has its own requirements, forcing the entire team to constantly learn, adapt, and improve product quality to reach international standards.
The spirit of “raising the level of Vietnamese agricultural products” is not only reflected in the number of 15 exporting countries but also in the constant innovation of products. In addition to the traditional Top Coco cake line, the company continues to create new products such as fruit coconut cake, coconut cake combined with nuts... to meet the diverse tastes of global consumers. Currently, the company has 3 main product lines with more than 20 baked coconut cake codes produced with a capacity of about 3 tons per day, of which up to 50% is for export.
According to Ms. Y Nhi, to bring a regional specialty from domestic consumption to the world is a long and arduous journey. “Production for the domestic market and export are very different. When aiming for export, everything must meet international standards – from raw materials, processing lines to packaging and preservation. These seemingly small things are decisive for survival when entering the global playing field,” she said.

It is not just technology or technique that creates My Phuong Food’s unique identity, but also the love for local products and the steadfast pursuit of quality. “We consider each cake a small ambassador to tell a story about meticulousness, passion and love for local products,” Ms. Y Nhi confided.
Supporting OCOP exports
With the same aspiration to bring his hometown's agricultural products to the world, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Son, Director of Huong Que Production - Processing - Import-Export Trading Company Limited (Da Nang) has persistently conquered the international market with typical products from Tra My cinnamon region such as slippers, shoe insoles, superfine cinnamon powder... Currently, these products are present in Germany, Hungary, France, Czech Republic... contributing to increasing the value of cinnamon trees for the ethnic people of Nam Tra My.
According to Mr. Son, Tra My cinnamon stands out thanks to its high essential oil content and its unique sweet, spicy and strong aroma. It has long been considered "Cao son ngoc que", a product presented to the Nguyen Dynasty kings. However, for this agricultural product to reach far, businesses must proactively overcome the strict technical barriers of each market, improve product quality, ensure environmental friendliness and meet international standards. When production and export are both professionally organized, local agricultural products can conquer global consumers.

The success of businesses such as Huong Que or My Phuong Food shows the practical effectiveness of the One Commune One Product (OCOP) Program in Da Nang. In recent years, OCOP has become a "support" for local production establishments to start up, develop typical products associated with the chain and expand the consumer market.
To support OCOP entities, the city has implemented many practical support activities such as: investing in machinery and equipment, consulting on packaging standards, developing distribution channels, participating in domestic and international fairs. In addition, OCOP product display points at Han Market and Son Tra Night Market also help products reach people and tourists directly.
Ms. Vu Thi Bich Hau, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Da Nang City, said that OCOP products have gradually affirmed their value and reputation in the market, increased their revenue, and contributed to improving income and quality of life for urban and rural people.
“OCOP products of Da Nang city not only appear in the domestic market but also have foreign markets. We want to support the development of designs, processes, and standards so that exports can bring true value to manufacturers and OCOP subjects. OCOP products help people increase their income and create jobs. The most basic thing is to create product value and create a labor chain," said Ms. Hau.
