Specifically, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung signed a decision to include the folk knowledge of Quang noodles in the list of national intangible cultural heritage. This decision requires the chairmen of People's Committees at all levels to manage and preserve the heritage according to the provisions of the law on cultural heritage.
Quang noodles are recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam , the folk knowledge of Quang noodles includes the entire process from research, growing raw materials, producing raw products to processing noodles and using spices and broth. This process reflects the profound folk and indigenous cultural elements, creating a bowl of authentic Quang noodles of Quang Nam.
“Planting rice, producing rice, processing noodles, choosing ingredients, spices… are all processes that are passed down through many generations, clearly demonstrating the folk culture of this land,” Mr. Hong explained.
The recognition of Quang noodle folk knowledge as a national intangible cultural heritage not only affirms the cultural value of Quang noodle processing but also contributes to preserving and promoting the unique culinary cultural value. Thereby, Quang Nam province has the opportunity to promote tourism development, create jobs for people, and develop craft villages.
Previously, in August 2023, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province sent a dispatch requesting the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to recognize the craft of making Quang noodles as a national intangible cultural heritage. Quang noodles are not only a dish but also a cultural symbol and the character of the people of Quang, from the time of the Nguyen lords to the present.
For the people of Quang Nam, Quang noodles is not only a cuisine but also a flavor to find their homeland, with endless nostalgia and love.
Quang noodles followed the footsteps of migrants on their journey to the South, absorbing and adapting diverse ingredients along the way, creating a rich and unique flavor. This dish contains both the historical formation process and the folk knowledge system of the land of Quang Nam.
Currently, Quang noodles are present in most provinces and cities across the country and some countries such as the US, Japan, and Australia, demonstrating the strong vitality and influence of this dish in the flow of Vietnamese culinary culture.
