It is expected that the construction of the new Binh Thanh suspension bridge will begin in early 2026.

This is one of the weak bridges that has existed for quite a long time in Hue City. The bridge was built in 2001 (24 years ago) across Huu Trach River (upstream of Huong River), located on Provincial Road 12D, connecting the center of Binh Dien Commune with National Highway 49 - one of the main roads connecting localities located in the southwest of Hue City.

Currently, the Hue City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board is coordinating with the People's Committee of Binh Dien Commune and the Area 2 Construction Investment Project Management Board to carry out site clearance.

The Binh Thanh Bridge construction investment project has a total investment of more than 75 billion VND; of which, the construction cost is nearly 61 billion VND and the Hue City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board is the investor.

It is expected that the construction of the new Binh Thanh suspension bridge will begin in early 2026; the implementation period will be 3 years. The project to build the new Binh Thanh bridge has a total length of about 500m. The starting point is at Km0+0.00 at the intersection of National Highway 49, the end point is at the intersection with the old inter-village road of Binh Thanh commune (now Binh Dien commune), about 200m from the current bridge abutment; the total length of the bridge is more than 254m, the width is 8.5m, with 6 girder spans.
