Ngoc Hai joined Binh Duong in September 2023 under a 3-year contract, receiving about 2 years of signing-on fee worth about 10 billion VND. In the first season, Hai only played 15 matches due to frequent injuries. In the 2024-2025 season, he played 22 matches (21 starts), helping the club to 7th place in the V-League and reach the semi-finals of the National Cup, tied for 3rd place overall.
After the defeat against SLNA in the National Cup semi-finals (in which Ngoc Hai was said to have made a mistake leading to the decisive goal), there were rumors that Binh Duong Club could liquidate him with a compensation fee of up to 6 billion VND.
Although Binh Duong's board of directors had kept him for the next season, on July 14, Que Ngoc Hai still decided to leave the club despite having 1 year left on his contract. Many sources said that Que Ngoc Hai signed a contract with Thanh Hoa Club under a final year buyout agreement and a 2-year commitment, in order to continue his career in the North Central region.
Que Ngoc Hai grew up at SLNA, played for The Cong Viettel , before accepting to serve Binh Duong. He was the captain of the national team and one of the best central defenders in V-League, won the national championship with Viettel (2020) and the AFF Cup with the Vietnam team (2018).
However, from October 2024 until now, he has not been recalled to the Vietnam national team after the red card in the friendly match with India and was absent from the 2024 AFF Cup championship squad.
Despite having to face many difficulties in form and fitness, Ngoc Hai is still a major influence in Vietnamese football. Joining Thanh Hoa Club promises to open a new chapter for Hai Que, where he will cooperate with his old coach and continue to assert himself in the V-League next season.
