Although the General Census took place in the context of administrative unit consolidation, Ca Mau province still proactively carried out the preparation work quite well. The guiding documents, investigation plans, task assignments... were issued in full, following the correct procedures, demonstrating the strong direction of the Steering Committee (SC) of the Provincial Agricultural and Rural Census.

Recently, the Central Monitoring Delegation led by Mr. Luu Dinh Quy, Head of the Statistical Investigation Data Collection and Processing Team, Statistical Investigation Department, inspected the 2025 Agricultural and Rural Census in a number of communes and wards in the province. Specifically, the delegation inspected the actual information collection work of investigators in households in Lang Tron ward (former Phong Tan commune) and high-tech shrimp farms in Long Dien commune. Three important groups of information were collected: the current status of agricultural, forestry and fishery production; the current status of rural areas; information on rural residents.

The investigators collected information under the supervision of the Central Inspection Team at the super-intensive shrimp farm of Mr. Lieu Phuoc Thanh (Hamlet 2, Long Dien Commune). Mr. Thanh's family has 22 hectares of land for super-intensive shrimp farming using high technology, with an average income of about 6 billion VND/year. Or Mr. Lam Van Trang's family (Hamlet 16A, Lang Tron Ward) is a household specializing in agricultural production; family members are direct laborers. Mr. Trang has nearly 8 hectares of land for rice production, of which nearly 6 hectares is his family's land and 2 hectares is rented land. Each year, he produces 3 crops, earning about 600 million VND in profit.

Mr. Trang shared: "Through information from newspapers, radio and local officials, I learned that this is a general census to serve the development of local agricultural and rural development plans. Therefore, I am very happy to cooperate and provide full information as requested by the investigator."

After interviewing and collecting information, the investigator uses a smartphone to enter data directly into the system. The data collected from the survey reflects the effectiveness of policies implemented in the past. The results of this survey will be a scientific basis for the Government in general and the province in particular to plan agricultural production, invest in rural infrastructure, support the development of agricultural value chains and improve the quality of life for rural people in the new period.

Through monitoring, the Central Inspection Team highly appreciated the preparation work and selection of qualified and experienced investigators... of the communes and wards; at the same time, it pointed out some limitations that need to be overcome. That is, some communes have not done a good job of propaganda, so people do not really understand the role, meaning and importance of the General Census. In particular, during the survey, some investigators did not strictly follow the steps of the interview process; there were cases where investigators came to households without introducing their names and the objectives of the survey. In addition, the progress of data collection in some places was too fast, raising questions about the accuracy and completeness of the recorded information.

Supervision needs to be further strengthened, especially at the commune level and especially in newly merged communes and wards. Team leaders need to pay attention to promptly correcting any errors made by investigators. The province also needs to promptly reorganize the General Census Steering Committees at all levels to ensure that the direction is always consistent and effective,” Mr. Luu Dinh Quy noted.

It is known that the whole province of Ca Mau has just made a list with a total of 2,195 localities (Bac Lieu 910 localities and Ca Mau 1,285 localities), with about 494,495 households (Bac Lieu 221,622 households and Ca Mau 272,873 households), of which 371,678 households (Bac Lieu 154,302 households and Ca Mau 217,376 households) are engaged in agriculture, forestry and fishery activities.

With a sense of responsibility, close direction from the Census Steering Committees at all levels and the active cooperation of the people, the 2025 Agricultural and Rural Census in Ca Mau will be completed on schedule, ensuring data quality, making a practical contribution to the socio-economic development of the province in the following years./.
