Vietnamese tourists traveling to Singapore can pay with ZaloPay

On July 3, ZaloPay officially signed a cooperation agreement with the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), marking the first time the national tourism agency has cooperated with an electronic payment platform in Vietnam. The agreement aims to promote smart tourism, creating conditions for Vietnamese users to experience convenient, cashless payments when visiting Singapore.

The focus of the agreement is the expansion of the “International QR Scan” feature on the Zalopay app, allowing Vietnamese users to make direct payments in Singapore through STB’s partner network.

No need to convert foreign currency or use international cards, users just need to select the “Singapore” area in the QR Scan section, the system will automatically display the converted amount and transaction fee. Exchange rates and costs are transparent right on the application interface, allowing effective spending control throughout the journey.

Singapore is the first country chosen by Zalopay to deploy the “International QR Scan” feature, paving the way for cross-border cashless payment experiences for Vietnamese tourists. In addition, the application also integrates many utilities to serve travel and tourism needs such as booking air tickets, booking hotel rooms, paying at dining and entertainment venues and getting promotions at the destination.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thanh Giang, General Director of Zalopay, the payment interface is designed to be optimal, friendly and transparent, helping users make transactions as easily as in Vietnam. “We always accompany customers in keeping up with new consumer trends. With international payment features and local incentives in Singapore, Zalopay hopes to create a more seamless and convenient journey for Vietnamese tourists,” Ms. Giang shared.

Beyond payment solutions, Zalopay and the Singapore Tourism Board are also committed to collaborating on integrated marketing and communications campaigns to increase awareness of Singapore as a modern, accessible and safe destination. Activities include digital content on social media, promotional campaigns, and collaboration with KOLs/Influencers to build an image of “cashless” independent travel for the younger generation of travelers.

Ms. Le Lan Chi, General Director of Zalopay emphasized: “Although operating in two different fields, Zalopay and the Singapore Tourism Board share the same spirit of innovation and commitment to bringing optimal experiences to users. With the advantage of technology and understanding of Vietnamese users, we hope to work with STB to reach the group of modern tourists who prioritize convenience, personalization and instant connection.”

On behalf of the Singapore Tourism Board, Ms. Serene Ng, Chief Representative of the Representative Office in Vietnam, said: “The combination of Zalopay’s digital payment capabilities and Singapore’s diverse tourism ecosystem will create a seamless and convenient experience for Vietnamese tourists. We are proud to be the first national tourism agency to cooperate with a Vietnamese payment platform, demonstrating our commitment to jointly developing smart tourism solutions.”

In 2024, Singapore welcomed more than 393,000 Vietnamese visitors, putting Vietnam in the top 15 largest source markets. This is a solid foundation for both sides to expect further development potential, especially in the urban youth segment, who love experiential travel, technology and high flexibility.
