Currently, the Nam Dan Sluice Project has been put into operation (with a capital of over 600 billion VND), many projects in the lake and dam areas have been and are being implemented on schedule.
To ensure the safety of irrigation works in the area and the work of preventing and fighting natural disasters and search and rescue, Nam Nghe An Irrigation One Member Co., Ltd. has deployed plans for preventing and fighting natural disasters and search and rescue throughout the system on the basis of "4 on-site".
Organize inspections of flood and storm prevention works, test operation of drainage pumping stations, inspection of sluices under the dikes, inspection of dam bodies of reservoirs, timely handling and repair of damages. Drainage works such as Nam Dan sluice, Ben Thuy sluice, Nghi Quang sluice are implemented according to procedures, ensuring good drainage for small-season floods and main-season floods. At the same time, closely coordinate with local authorities in the system to ensure safety for all reservoirs, contributing to protecting the safety of crops, property and people's lives.
Ensuring timely water supply for irrigation and drainage for nearly 47,000 hectares of agricultural area and serving people's lives is an important task of the unit. To carry out this task well, according to Mr. Ta Duy Hien - Deputy Director of Nam Nghe An Irrigation One Member Co., Ltd., in the coming time, along with strengthening extensive propaganda for farmers to use water reasonably, economically and apply scientific irrigation measures... the unit will overcome difficulties, strive to ensure adequate water supply, timely drainage, and manage and operate the works in accordance with regulations and procedures.
Along with that, the unit will coordinate well with the locality to protect irrigation works and reservoir safety. Along with that, actively attract investment capital to upgrade and repair irrigation works, strive to modernize the reservoir area, monitor and control water sources to ensure absolute safety. Sufficient water sources to fight drought in all situations, modernize management means to improve labor productivity, harden the entire canal system. Develop irrigation and drainage area of nearly 70,000 hectares, to increasingly meet the needs of serving agricultural production.
Focus on synchronous development of irrigation infrastructure
In recent times, Nghe An Department of Agriculture and Environment has been actively and proactively promoting investment to attract maximum investment capital from various sources to build, repair and upgrade irrigation works such as the following projects:
Khe Lai - Vuc Mau irrigation system (phase 1); Nam Mo river embankment; Renovation and upgrading of canal system and works on canal of Vinh Thanh commune; Renovation and upgrading of headworks, canals and works on canals of pumping stations along Lam river; Renovation and upgrading of canal system and works on canals for reservoirs funded by the World Bank (WB); Construction of pumping stations and canal system of Son Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district and Nghi Van commune, Nghi Loc district...
In Nghe An province, irrigation works and dykes continue to be repaired and upgraded, ensuring safety in natural disaster prevention and control at 1,061 reservoirs, 702 pumping stations, 423 dams, 492 km of dykes, over 6,414 km of canals... and ensuring irrigation, drainage, and water supply for about 223,000 hectares of agricultural production, 51,500.0 hectares of rural and urban drainage...
In response to the development requirements of the Agriculture and Environment sector in the new period and to promptly meet the production requirements of local farmers after the merger of new communes, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Nghe An continues to strengthen the work of attracting investment capital sources, in which, prioritizing investment in completing key irrigation works such as:
Northern Irrigation System Upgrading Project (JICA), Ban Mong Reservoir Project, Khe Lai Vuc Mau, Nam Mo Embankment; Key Project to Restore and Upgrade Southern Nghe An Irrigation System; Investing in repairing, upgrading and renovating reservoirs, dams, pumping stations, canals, and dike systems to meet irrigation and drainage needs in response to climate change, proactively preventing, combating and mitigating natural disasters; Improving the effectiveness of natural disaster risk management by applying modern technology in forecasting, warning and preventing natural disasters.
